I cant see the appeal of Geelong for him unless he was best buds with Smith what is the appeal? Doesn't resonate someone who wants away from the attention and hustle and bustle.
But it would be in the realms of Buddy … the biggest gift for one club and a huge hole with frugal compensation for another.
Yeah I agree. That’s why I don’t think it will happen. Can’t see him ever leaving Bulldogs but it’s just nice to know we are involved in these big conversations and are having a crack everywhere we can.

I don't know why the Aints wouldn't be offering Bont 2 million a year.
The nightmares would just be magnified by seeing Bont finally in a Saint's jersey.
Just add Petracca into the picture.
Then we'd have to call the psych ward to send the padded wagons down to Moorabbin.
Those Billings & McCartin picks are franchise crushers... that nightmares are made of.

What do you think of the sledge that Harley Reid did to Jason Horne Francis on the weekend. I don't believe all the media talk that it means he is staying or that he can't now request to leave this year. To me it was just 2 young competitive players on trying to get under each others skin and you say what you can to try and do that

Pfft, we know it's happening 😉

Humorous, but speaks to how headf*cked that club has become.

I'd hate if Scott was doing that tbh. Worry about your own backyard, and get better.
I would be upset if Scott did it but it's funny to watch a less professional coach have a hissy fit

Oh it's hilarious, but more from a "We're laughing at you, not with you" perspective.

If we had a top 3 list in the comp, and had just slumped to 1-7 against top 9 sides, I'd be wanting more than cheap barbs at better performed clubs.

It's that kind of stuff that keeps them in this 'underdogs taking on the world' paradox that they whinged about last trade period.

Did he actually say that? What a nut case. I actually love it

No - this was the real quote:

While tight-lipped, Beveridge's response and grin indicated he wasn't too concerned about Bontempelli potentially seeking a League-shifting move elsewhere.

"I think we're getting close, but that's all I can really say," Beveridge said on Wednesday.

Someone's real good at forging AFL articles is all 😂

I believe he said something like ..home to mummy after one year. I believe Reid is already in y2 …so 100% better than JHF

Just read Alex Dodson had 29 touches , 35 hitouts and 3 goals for saints VFL on the weekend. He is the ruckman linked to us that seemed like a no brainer choice but we went with Molier instead.

No one said Dodson was a dud…. but one will have to wonder if he is showing that sort of form ..and the Saints have a couple of rucks ahead of him …. that he might look at his options before resigning…. especially if the Crows miss out on Draper

The fear was he's got college scholarships being thrown at him for basketball.

Could be nothing in it, but the belief was that if he was sitting in the state leagues for 3-4 years - like most young ruckman have happen to them - then he could easily have his head turned to the US.

Particularly with the new NIL NCAA deal from a couple of years ago, where you can genuinely make millions as a college athlete nowadays.

He could realistically make more with a 4 year college degree than he would playing a decade of footy, if he chose to take that path

In terms of form, it's only the second time this season he's reached double figure hitouts. It's pretty clear he's spent more time playing forward so far this season as he's behind other ruck options - this is his season averages

This is how he's gone in each game:

He's still young having only just turned 19 last month and it'll be interesting to see how he develops over the next year and then any potential contract beyond that

YOUNG CAT TO SIGN

GEELONG young gun Connor O'Sullivan is poised to be the next top-20 member of the 2023 draft class to extend beyond his initial three-year deal.

The 20-year-old is understood to be finalising a two-year contract extension that will lock him in at GMHBA Stadium until the end of 2028.

Ethan Read was the first of the 2023 crop to re-sign in April last year, extending by two years after just three appearances for Gold Coast.

Colby McKercher also signed through until 2028 at North Melbourne recently, while Essendon young gun Nate Caddy has inked a two-year deal and Dan Curtin added three more at Adelaide.

O’Sullivan played one game in his debut season, but has featured in all but one in year two, emerging as a leading contender for the Telstra AFL Rising Star.

The 198cm key defender has starred under Chris Scott in 2025 and will challenge Caddy, Curtin and the favourite Levi Ashcroft for this year’s Ron Evans Medal. – Josh Gabelich

Yeah I agree. Doesn’t change anything. Heat of the moment and knows it’s going to get under JHF’s skin. Pretty funny by him.

If he is really that good, oh yeah he can bank millions while in college. Though I don't know how deep down the roster the riches go. I don't follow the basketball, but in football it is getting out of hand with guys leaving after a year for a better NIL deal. It sucks.

Yeah, it's still a pretty big drawcard both for football and basketball. It's really going to cut into European basketball in particular.

The next Giannis or Wemby is just going to sign with Duke or Kentucky for millions rather than staying in Europe.

Totally agree, it's going to be a massive issue. Part of the problem is you don't even have to be a gun to get it.

If you're a projected fourth round pick, and making 2m a year in NIL, you'll make more staying the extra year in college than you will in your first year in the NFL.

I guess it could create parity away from the Georgia and Ohio State types, but in likelihood it'll just keep the rich richer.
