All of those should be in the squad. IMO, Dawson & Worrell should make the team. Thilthorpe has been phenomenal at times, but he's still only 6th on the Coleman list this year - and it's rare for a KPP to get selected if they're that far down the order.

My guess is that the AA forward line will be:
FF: Gunston Cameron Naughton
HF: Elliott King <midfielder>

Worrell must make it, and Dawson should be captain.

Thilthorpe should make the final team, but there’s competition up forward, wouldn’t surprise if selectors opted for Gunston over him (behind Jezza). I feel like Kane Cornes as a selector will also strongly push for Georgiades

What is pleasing is that our efforts this year have been so evenly spread, rather than same 5 guys carrying us every week. So I don’t expect more than 4-5 to make the squad of 40.

Team of champions won’t beat a champion team.

No, because the team of champions are also stacked with gun players.

I think we're looking at Dawson, Thilhorpe and Worrell in the 22 with maybe a 40 selection to Keane. Rachele got injured at the wrong time, otherwise he'd be a very good shout for the 22.

Would fall off my chair if Thilthorpe doesn’t make it into the team. His goal numbers are suppressed by having to play 2nd Ruck, and he does a damn good job of it.

I reckon Dawson, Thilthorpe and Worrell are locks. I know people are saying Worrell will have to wait another year to get recognised, but I think he's been well and truly recognised by now. Dawson will be there and probably named captain. Thilthorpe will make it as the final forward selected with the argument that he also provides heaps in the ruck.

Keane will get in the squad but squeezed out of the actual side.

I wouldn't be surprised if Rankine gets left out of the squad.

Can't see anyone else making the squad. Curtin will be discussed but (rightly) overlooked. Can't see anyone else getting close.

I don't think Thilthorpe is a lock.

Cameron takes full forward.
Gunston gets third tall.

That leaves one spot.

Ben King has kicked 7 more goals than TT. I think they'll lean that way.

King provides nothing outside of the goals he kicks. An extra 7 goals isn't going to get him in over Thilthorpe.

Probably deserves it's own thread. Top 2 is secured, who from our team make the AA 22 man squad? There's probably 5 names that are in contention.

Dawson
Thilthorpe
Worrell
Rankine
Keane
1st 3 imo will be All Australian.

Other 2 likely squad members.

Worrell killing it last night and Vlastuin sadly hurting his ankle probably hands Woz a gig.

Dawson obviously a lock and almost certainty captain.

Thilthorpe is touch and go. Been great and big in clutch moments, but he’s got stiff competition. Cameron and Gunston are locks. Then it’s out of him, Naughton or Darcy imo (King kicks goals but not much else). Hopefully his value as a ruck gives him the edge.

Keane should make the squad but he’s hasn’t been tight enough defensively to make the team.

Rankine had a very good year but hasn’t been exceptional as either a mid or small forward. Touch and go for the squad.

I don't know how anyone can genuinely believe that TT is a lock to beat Darcy into the team. Darcy has him for the main course, which is goals per game. The chop out ruck role does favour TT, but whether it's enough to catch up the half a goal a game is unknown. If you look into the ruck aspect, TT takes 2.4% more of ruck contests, wins 10.4% more ruck contests, but 15.8% less are hitouts to advantage. Raw hitouts to advantage Darcy leads whilst taking less ruck contests.

To me it's going to be a flip of the coin and one is going to be unlucky. Maybe Darcy's injury will count against him, but he'll have played 17 games. Just can't see how anyone who watches other sides could think TT is a certainty.

Who has been a better small fwd and mid this year than rankine?
There arguably haven't been any standouts. Most likely they will fill the forward pocket positions with excess midfielders, who never played in a forward pocket all season. The AA selectors have done this on many, many, many occasions over the years.

Vlastuin was having a stinker before that too

We have the best defence in the league so we should have both Worrell and Keane tbh.

Dawson is a shoe in and should be captain. No doubt.

Rankine for mine is a highlights package but has he done enough to make the final team im not sure. Maybe a bench player.

Thilthorpe will likely miss out due to not being high enough in the goal kicking award.

Josh Rachele, Max Michalanney and Dan Curtin make the best 22 Under 22 All Australian team, Jake Soligo misses out.

A trio of young Crows have been named in the 2025 AFL Players’ Association (AFLPA) 22Under22 team.
Josh Rachele, Max Michalanney and Dan Curtin were selected in the team, following a fan vote to select the final 22.
Rachele, who has made the team for a third consecutive season, has enjoyed an impressive campaign, booting 25 goals from 13 games.
Michalanney was named as a full-back after being a critical part of Adelaide’s defence, averaging 5.7 defensive-half pressure acts and 13.1 disposals across 19 games.
Second-year Crow Curtin has enjoyed a breakout season, with the utility averaging 13.5 disposals and 4.6 marks from 22 matches.
The AFLPA’s 22Under22 is fan voted and recognises the best players aged under 22 during the home and away season.
