But the fact it's a mile off the ball isn't great, and even a clear HIA will add to the seriousness of the charge.

That last quarter of umpiring is up there with 2015 Dogs at Etihad and 2012 Hawks Prelim as the most blatant incompetence (at best) have ever seen.

Clear rushed behinds paid as goals
Marks not paid to us
Then Non-marks immediately paid to them twice
Throws not paid to us
Holding the balls not paid (Dawsons tackle in middle) but paid against Milera who gets tackled immediately

Absolute joke

Umpires really seemed to get caught up in the emotion of the week agajnst us and the negative press we received after the Collingwood game.

Same as Curtin in his first half a dozen games. We had plenty of opportunities to get games into him instead of yo-yo'ing Murphy or Smith in.

How much of Sid Draper's selection is on merit, and how much was just because his non-selection was an insult to the esteemed station of draft pick #4.

Curtin was terrible in his first games. But IMHO was never this terrible. And has only really come good after an entirely new position was invented that perfectly suits his style of play. He looks much worse in a normal footy role.

I can't see the same happening with Draper.

It definitely happened. They showed a replay. I didn't realise the context though.

North played like it was their last game of the year and gave it all. We just wanted the win with as little effort as possible. Also, it looked like we were a bit jaded by the past week.
We were smashed in the midfield. The ruck contest was good to watch.

I know he didn’t play well - not by a long stretch, but really couldn’t believe with everything that’s still to come this season that they chose to sub Draper instead of Neal-Bullen, who was hobbling around all 2nd half on one leg.

Dowling didn't look out of place, Draper however....I'm afraid Schoenberg offers more at this level at this time.

Disappointing that Dowling hasn’t been played earlier. Hopefully Draper can adjust to the level next year.

Pretty professional performance in the end. Didn't blow then away but were a step ahead all day long.

Dowling proved he belongs in the side. Smith was pretty good in his quarter as well.

Good: The win. Looked good going forward at times, but overdid it a bit also. TT solid as usual, Fog not bad, Worrell and Milera not bad. Keays good early especially.
Bad: Plenty. Smashed in the midfield - RoB was schooled by Xerri again, Soligo unsighted, Dawson relatively quiet. Berry and Peatling OK. Bond struggled against a good-sized small forward (he was much better against Elliott the previous week). Dowling ok at times, but was loose also against his opponent that allowed some easy goals. Sid was lost, and is off the pace for AFL right now - needs a big learning curve before he's AFL ready. ANB largely went missing again. Tex looks like he needs a rest / walking stick.
Ugly: Umps..esp in the last quarter where all of their goals came from dodgy decisions...10 - 2 free kick count, and a few missed for us.

All in all...pleased that we won the minor premiership, but I have a terrible feeling that we ain't going far - too many holes / non-contributors. Hopefully Rachele is back for next game, along with Max. I'd be pushing Milera into the centre bounces - he seems to be one of the few who can pick up the ball cleanly. Would like to have seen Curtin more also in the centre.

As an aside - North are going to take some beating next year if they tidy up their disposal.
