I don’t really see it as holding the ball or anything - I don’t think he has prior opportunity etc so he couldn’t be pinged on those grounds but if he has it in his hands he’s fair game. Just adjust the rule so it’s play on in those scenarios

I love when guys still care deeply for the club they played 300+ games for. I’ve got no problem if a former player commentator has a bias for their own club if they’re honest about it.

Might be one for the unpopular opinions thread, but I reckon it'd be interesting to have one special comments person each for the teams that are playing. Yeah, they find it hard to disguise their passion, but it doesn't matter so much in that role. And they also probably have a few 'insider' snippets that other people in that role wouldn't have, which more than offsets the bias as far as I'm concerned.
