Agreed. Trump & co will only use it as an excuse to rip further democratic rights away from the people of the US.

Kirk was a piece of shizen, he had no compassion or empathy for others and was in it for the grift and power. That his death is going to probably be used for the 'cause' to inflict more pain on others is sad.

the fact his kids don't have a dad anymore and his wife is a widow is whats sad here...........not how his death will be used.

Jesus people are warped.

Bloke is murdered in 4k for having a different viewpoint and the only thing that's sad is how his death will be used politically. If we had guns in Australia we would 100% have this same type of shit going on. Zero doubt about it.

I strongly disagreed with Kirk's views and found him to be a pretty putrid individual because of those views, but I find his murder to be shameful and disgraceful. You should never pay for your views with your life.

Sadly, however, politically motivated assassinations are part of what the USA is as a country. The first I personally remember is when Bobby Kennedy was gunned down in 1968.

I never get less disgusted by these events, regardless of the political leanings of the target, but equally I never get surprised by them.

The USA simply does not have the capacity for self-reflection and improvement. Violence inevitably ends up being the course of action for that country and/or for individuals within it.

hate to say it but i do agree with him here 🙂

I don't support guns, far from it - they should all me melted into a game of thrones type chair, but the point of the 2nd amendment is to allow people to bear arms largely around self defense against government tyranny.

Not to shoot people that you have different political views against.

Too much common sense for the many joyous clowns on this thread.

only low IQ people think killing people who disagree with you is a joyous thing.

I'm not surprised in the slightest there are people in the big footy SRP form quasi celebrating and joking about this. Have been here far too long.

This whole left v right thing is simply out of control.

Government tyranny is exactly what is occurring now.

I don't see much pushback against it from those bearing arms.

The 2nd Amendment doesn't seem to be fulfilling its purpose.

Yep. That was the idea. 250 years ago.

Absolutely dreadful.

I've only just heard of this person, but regardless of how I feel about his politics, I cannot condone his murder.

His death is the product of an individualistic but also tribal culture where people too often cannot recognise those outside of their clique as being human. And a culture where violence is too often treated as a solution to everyday problems, not as a last resort.

RIP.

i am not supporting the amendment itself, more so just pointing out Kirks death is not some ironic twist to what he has said previously.

The 2nd amendment is not there to justify killing people you disagree with politically.

i find no joy in the death of anyone, however, it is bitterly ironic that this has happened to someone with a wretched view on life and humanity. a person who holds a substantial amount of hate in his heart for anyone who disagrees with him or is even slightly different being assassinated at an event discussing the very thing he defends to the core is darkly comedic.

It is absolutely an ironic twist. It is, in fact, the ultimate irony if you look at what he said.

But this is not the place nor time (for me at least) to continue on with that discussion. I'll let you ponder over it.

100%. If this wasn't irony then I don't know what is.
