Coach Welcome to Port Adelaide Andy Collins - Director of Coaching

Without knowing too much about your list, what Collins was absolutely superb at doing for us in his early years was taking kids and young players who had yet to debut and get them ready for the rigors of AFL football. If you’ve struggled to get the kids developed from SANFL to the AFL, watch him work wonders for you.

You just nailed exactly what we need.

Port’s SANFL’s development has been subpar for a number of years. For whatever reason, players just haven’t been able to step up as well as other clubs.

Not sure that will be what Collin’s role will be at Port, but if he can direct some improvements, it would be worth its weight in gold.

I'm liking these changes. Makes me think, were we actually even trying as a football club the past few years with our shitty internal appointments?

Speaks to two things imo:

1) Ken's insecurities and dogmatic positions that meant he wanted (even if not overtly by choice) to be surrounded by an echo chamber of yes men.
2) That the footy committee and by extension, the Board, were so pathetic to allow this to happen.

How much has Ken burnt the bridge at Port? Pretty clear that he didn’t get along with a few ex-assistant coaches and some of the playing group as well as some of the board members.

So why did Port bothered re-signing Ken in August 2023 rather than waiting until the end of the campaign if they knew Carr was the man to become the next coach?

Sounds like there was a far bit of issues with Ken and him leaving 30 minutes into the best and fairest just sums it up and berating the supporters for the flack he copped during the last few years.

I think the problem was that Ken got along too well with the playing group and the Board members. At least the ones that count.

I get the impression that Ken showed his true colours even to his most ardent supporters in the last 12 months. A few relationships strained.

New Port Adelaide Director of Coaching, Andy Collins Interview on SEN SA

Collins regarding his new role: "I've got an education background, a teaching background. I have a lot of coaching experience in different forms not only in state league but AFL league. And hopefully I can just part a little bit of experience in the coaching group and support the playing group at the same time."

"I've got really good knowledge of the history of Port Adelaide and really excited of what that will bring"

Collins regarding Josh: "He's a terrific young man...Highly competitive I love that, I love that in coaches.. got a real competitive streak a real winning streak and thats what he's been able to display as a player and as also as a midfield coach so really excited about supporting him"

Yep, it was pretty pissweak on all fronts.

As If anyone was ever in doubt about Hinkley’s insecurities. He literally broadcast them from his deck chair all those years ago.

It’s nice to get back to being a club that brings in the best people it can find for roles that sit within a clear structure.

I’m very optimistic about the next few seasons.

His job is to groom the coach after Josh... Hamish Hartlett

Watching the Brownlow last night and seeing Hinkley's lolly teeth nonsense again makes me glad to see that juvenile crap being swept out of the building and replaced by a hard-edged reality.

Yeah I saw that. If anything it just shows his lack of commitment in the last 12 months, he and his family must be so embarrassed at his unprofessionalism and immaturity as a senior AFL coach. This is something that will stick for a long time and probably will damage any chance he had at another job in the AFL.

The clown is on the Front Bar, Grand Final Edition. I wonder if any truths will spill out eventually.
