Neither are the Tuckers, Howes, Fishers, CCJ, Logue, Daniels of the world.
Of those i was bullish on log early. But they are for the tip.

Daniels is at leat a capable player but not a defenders ass hole. Prolly could have given decent fwd support. But like spargo really isnt a position of need given its the only real spot we are flush with options at.

This is absolutely spot on. If all of the high draft picks we have had over the last few years, eventually do start to bear fruit, so much better to have a key position player one year ahead in his development to accompany them, as opposed to a pick this year, who will be one year behind in his development.

Prospects around the same height and ranked in Twomey's top 30 (FWIW) this year are Duff-Tytler (2), Schubert (13), Ludowyke (19), Emmett (23) and McCarthy (27), some of whom are probably more Ruck types. Who knows we might end up getting one of McCarthy or Emmett anyway with one of our two picks in the second round.

Assuming we could get one of these at Pick 3, who of these might be worth the risk at that pick? Based on Twomey's assessment, only Duff-Tytler and he might be gone by 3.

(Of course, there is an alternative in a boy called Duursma lurking somewhere thereabouts, but don't mention that name I hear a few say.)
Correct but the one oversight you to are making is in regards to the contract expiration dates. The years development is vital but what we have gained there we have lost in cap space in 27 when Chom, Stephens, FOS, Logue, Darling, Fish and Whitlock will all be up. Yes some of those will be gone, but some of the space will be used up in 26's off season

Again I love the player and getting him in early but we are starting to get jammed up contract wise regardless of the player type

Interesting thought….
If we had our first rounder I think we take Taylor given need. If not and best available probably still him… maybe Robbey though I think Tigers take him at 3. Or we could end up with another mid in Grlj…

Would we rather have Taylor or Whitlock and second rounder….

Daniel should really be Jack Whitlock

'He requested a trade back to S.A. Once Port dropped out we lost our leverage so we tried to get North involved.'

It's all well and good to say we'll just sit tight and not do anything this off-season. But the reality is, there are super compromised drafts coming from 2027 (not to mention the prospect of also losing players to Tassie), and if we haven't sufficiently added to the team by then we'll just fall even further behind.
The reality is, Rawling and Co can't sell a vision because his list management and Clarko's coaching have been so inept we have finished bottom 2 for 5 years before making the exposive leap to 16th this season.

We are a basket case. Everyone in the AFL knows it but the club.

Its not on whitlock. Its the Daniel deal that cost us the future. We coulda got one of the whitlocks, shanahan or armstrong with our 2nd rouder or a modest upgrade. Our insistance on Daniel lead to selling the farm.

It must be nice to sit in judgement with 20/20 hindsight on the order of 27 draft picks.

We need a KPB our targets were Taru, Trainor and Whitlock. 98% of predictions had all these players gone before our 2nd round pick. Thus we looked into splitting our 1st pick, no one had interest.

When we traded for Caleb the predictions showed all our KPB prospects were gone at that pick. We needed run and a way out of our back 50, Caleb had the potential to provide this, so we went for the best choice given the best information available.

On the night after 26 picks when we had full knowledge of who was available we still viewed it as worthwhile.

Everyone was screaming for a KPB and we got a 197cm player we viewed as the 3rd best in the draft.

Yet still you cry.

I can't see how anyone with half a brain could argue against that.

I could have made half a million betting on a Brisbane Nth draw this year rather than taking the family to Disneyland.

If only we all lived with perfect 20/20 hindsight.

So what's your call for our pick this year who is it? And who is pick 3?

With all this knowledge you claim you better nail both!

Even at Sharp for Whitlock and Ludowyke I say our needs are better met and the trade is good.

I very much doubt that my "oversight" would have been in any recruiter's mind either, this time last year and represents the problem you apparently see.

Which is not a problem when it comes to key position defenders, where it appears Whitlock has been recruited to play. Only Comben and Logue are primarily viewed as key position defenders out of that list. Darling is a forward and will almost certainly retire at the end of next year.

Just tells you the low level of respect that others clubs have for us/Rawlings. And yet he continues to retain his job.

Our club leadership is pissweak.

Sydney saying Hayward and Rowbottom won't be part of a Curnow trade. On top of Warner, Heeney, Gulden, Blakey being untouchable. Who else would be of interest to the Blues in exchange for Curnow?
This would be some feat if the Swans somehow manage to get this done.
Curnow to cats

I can't see how anyone with half a brain could argue against that.

How would they go with a full brain? I've met (more than) a few people over the years, who I have assessed as having "half a brain" and by golly, Miss Molly, they have not been overly smart; in fact usually quite dumb. Oh well.

What about Aaron Francis? Can't they offer (even after delisting) him?

This pick 3 shit is next level copium.

If Rogers can play on top of Daniels shoulders our backline will be the tallest (but slowest in the competition). A 3.4 meter point of difference and would make the kick out interesting. “Go left mate, no back right. Shit, do a pirouette and just hack it 21 meters and hope for the best.”

The pace factor can be somewhat rectified by Daniels playing on top of Rogers shoulders!

Richmond are literally shopping the very pick we traded them and have been surprised by how little interest there is in it.

Many things to bag North on over the past five years - this isn't one of them yet. It might be if Whitlock doesn't make it but thus far it's a wait and see.

They have said they are willing to move it into next year's first round which is 'apparently' stronger. I'll wait to see what actually happens.
