All that is really relevant is whether or not we could have obtained Whitlock for a cheaper price than pick 3
Except draft picks don’t play games, players do. If Whitlock has a hall of fame career no one is going to be talking about the fact we shouldn’t have traded Caleb Daniel etc. (except on the this board)

I reckon most of us do

lol cal is usually better than that

Gone premature with incorrect details
To be fair, it seems like that was the info available at the time, and he updated in less than an hour to amend it.

As far as AFL reporting goes its on the tamer side of things.

Trembath plays 3 good games in dead rubber games and suddenly all our KPF issues are solved? Right...

You'd hope no one is saying that. He did look good for these particular reasons, he positioned himself in the right spots. His ability to stay involved after a marking contest. And he picked the ball up without breaking stride on the flank.
Those attributes impressed me somewhat, lets hope he can continue to improve.

This keeps getting said.

Trembath looks a 2nd/3rd tall imo.

Maley has the size for ruck or genuine KPP with a very hard physical element to go with his spring.

Considering we have little young tall depth I'm disappointed they're not both in our 2026 plans.
We could be losing our rookie spots. If we have to choose I can see why the club would choose Trembath. He's the better prospect and has better footy IQ.

2nd tall or 3rd tall is perfectly fine considering Larkey would be taking the heat away as well as Darling. Whitlock would be a great addition too but that's getting too tall.

Nailed the problem I suspect. List spots.

Yeah he only played against the best key back in the AFL, one of the best teams defensively and against a side that was supposedly ahead of us.

He is miles ahead of Maley. If Trembath wasn't contracted, clubs would be asking the question of him instead considering we hid him away.

I didn't say anything about how he's tracking compared to maley. But if you think putting all our eggs in the Trembath basket is a good idea, good luck to you.

Would love both to help with depth, but Trembath has more agility, footy smarts, better hands, better boot and has more runs on the board. I still think Maley can be a handy swingman.

imagine after all this we actually end up with david swallow

But we're not? Our rookie spots could be dialled back. So do we rip up Trembath's contract and offer it to Maley?

We have Larkey, Zurhaar, Darling, Whitlock (who can play back), PC and Trembath (also played back) as our medium/KPPs thus far. With PC being able to play small too.

That's very good fire power.

Agree 100%.

I would keep Maley over CCJ or Stevens.

This thread is like watching a Christopher Nolan movie. We're in the present discussing trade prospects, then we're flung back 7 years talking about what we gave up for Jared Polec, then we're catapulted forward a year discussing Cooper Trembath and Matt Whitlock as KPFs in 2026 only to be thrown back 2 years questioning if trading our 2025 F1 was a smart move. I seriously can't keep up.
