Especially 2I will keep checking back here until I see our offer has been made, then I will stop reading because of the meltdowns from all of those who obviously know everything that is going on behind the scenes.
It would all but end it without a significant player, someone with true value, agreeing to go to Carlton.

What is the process of let's say Will being traded to Carlton and he is travelling in South America? Is it literally Carlton would just waive the medical?
In regards to Curnow, this would significantly hurt the Cat's chase of Curnow.
I'm talking about a CC to Geelong deal. If they deal #19 to St Kilda for Marshall it ends the pursuit of Charlie IMO, unless they can trade a player, who has some serious value and agrees to going to Carlton, plus the '26 & '27 1sts.Depends,
If you can get Carlton before the Dean bid in this years draft and get them a first next year the deal probably gets close.
EG (And this is just an example, nothing else).
Rowbottom and pick 11 to Richmond to pick 4.
Pick 4 and next year F1 along with Florent to Carlton.
Curnow and a late 2nd/ third to Sydney.
That probably gets the deal done.
Especially 2
I'm all for it because I think the club have finally seen the light that although talented the current forward personal lack reliability for reasons such as injuries and inconsistency from week to week and in game. I also think that they acknowledge there are other areas that we have weaknesses but when you have a Star become available in an area you perceive to be a weakness you have to take a punt. Could We do With Petracca ? Hell Yes but Its not realistic because of salary purposes and he has nominated GC anyway which was on the cards as soon as he wanted out of Melbourne. I think they have alot of faith in Warner having aa better year, Heeney continuing to go to another level in his peak yrs and Mills to come back in the middle and get back to where he was before his body become his biggest issue which some of was self inflicted. Melican and McCartin to be strong pillars down back. All Ifs and all risky thought process but its the very reason they are prepared to gamble on Curnow.Thing is he likely isn't getting too Geelong.
Lot's of players don't get to their preferred club, welcome to professional sport.
If he helps us get a flag, then I am all for it.
So Rowbottom, Florent, Pick 11 and F1?Depends,

Agree with that, Campbell is another one who has fallen into the same trap. Just play my role, let the other guys do the heavy lifting.Campbell needs to avoid falling into the same trap.
He needs to be putting figjam on his toast every morning.
His aspirational should be no lower than a generational small forward who can kick them from 60, collect and convert the loose balls, and pressure and tackle. He is currently only doing the last part well. The first part should be well in his wheel house - he just needs to be more selfish. The middle part should be his focus for development.
Ok - it’s the trade hypotheticals thread. Propose one yourself. So Rowbottom, Florent, Pick 11 and F1?
Good god.
In regards to Curnow, this would significantly hurt the Cat's chase of Curnow.
Why do you think that heavy lifting doesn't include defensive acts? Seems to be a bit biased.Agree with that, Campbell is another one who has fallen into the same trap. Just play my role, let the other guys do the heavy lifting.
Every single player on the list needs to be looking for their moment. There have been many games when we have looked flat and you just need 1 or 2 players to stand up and make things happen. More often than not, the responsibility has fallen on Heeney, Gulden and Warner. Blakey has had his moments as well. Add Grundy to that list as well. But in the games where we needed a circuit breaker. I can't remember another player being the one to provide that spark.
I have, lol. I've said before, if Rowy or Hayward are the player involved, it's 1 Player and 1 first (preferably F1). Then the club also needs to address the holes they leave this off season.Ok - it’s the trade hypotheticals thread. Propose one yourself.
Maybe we were, but we should have been having these discussions with our players weeks, if not months, ago.I know a fair few of our fans won't say this, BUT I really do think we have handled this situation really well.
- We haven't rushed in, given our best hand and been told no early on (That hands over all bargaining power).
- We are being careful with our players and actually changing the main parts of our list.
- Still in this race up to our eyeballs.
Maybe we were, but we should have been having these discussions with our players weeks, if not months, ago.
It's been obvious for a while that Curnow was a chance, and we would need to include players for that to happen.Players would have had these discussions at their exit meetings.
Also trades are versatile and change rapidly, happens all the time in trade period.
As I agree with this and as this has been my approach to this trade once the cost was mooted, it is again mystifying why we are proposing or pursuing it.
If the team lacks depth why reduce the depth still further by grabbing a player in an area we already have players in.
The only way this makes sense is that we believe we are a chance of a flag in the next three years. If that’s true then you can maybe justify the trade knowing that in five years we will have given ourselves no depth because we squandered our draft picks from 2025 and 2026 by giving them away for the 3-5 year sugar hit.
If we think the team can’t contend because they’re mentally shot we shouldn’t be pursuing a key forward and putting all our marbles in that jar including our future selection. We are simply throwing away our best way of restocking the larder by losing both draft picks and assets for trading.
It just seems to me that we are doing what you suggest that we do by getting curnow and adding him to the list because we can.
Unfortunately we aren’t facing the fact that the process of doing so is likely to make it less likely not more likely that we are contenders.
In which case what’s the point.
I'm more concerned that as well as losing someone like Fox (although possibly injury concern), who turned up to both recent grand finals, that Swans fans, while lamenting grand final performances, are clapping along to one of a few who showed up last year being traded. We mustn't get sucked into this bullshit about "team trust & morale will be betrayed".
What a load of crap.
What about team morale when you have a bloke who was clearly our best or second best player in the 2022 GF & who has had to battle year to year for a career for the last ten years in Robbie Fox.
Robbie had to his highly remunerated team mates fall in a heap ion that day & he kept taking the game on & trying to get things going down back while relegating his opponent, Jezza Cameron, to the worst performed cat player in the game on the day.
How will these bloke keep their morale up knowing Robbie is now gone & was being paid far less than the were & never got to see 4 or 5 year contracts.
Team morale will be broken?
YEAH NAH!!
