Apologies for any inconvenience. We will try to find a replacement.
Draftees theoretically have no choice in the matter, though there have been shenanigans before. Completely different scenario for mine. Young kids feeling lucky just to be in the system as opposed to a veteran player who can nominate a preferred destination. So many people in here are concerned that Curnow won't be serious if he comes to us because we are not good 'preferred' option, but are happy to take draftees who grew up fanatically supporting another club for their whole life.
More likely to get buy-in from an 18 year old possibly going to work for the first time over the 30 year old set in their ways and just wants to not be where they came fromDraftees theoretically have no choice in the matter, though there have been shenanigans before. Better still, Merrett to Hawthorn was the first big story yet no journo is saying what Hawks need to do to get the trade done.I don't know if it's Vic media bias but every article talks about Curnow wanting to go to Geelong and then about how Sydney are going to get the deal done. There's a major disconnect there.
I get it's more of a mercenary age in football now and loyalty isn't what it was but it would be nice if our potential spearhead that we're haggling for actually wanted to come to the club as a preference rather than as a fallback option.

shakes head at blue ring octopusThose ****ers can sting quite fast if you're off guard

A trade which last I checked still hasn't happened yetBetter still, Merrett to Hawthorn was the first big story yet no journo is saying what Hawks need to do to get the trade done.
No mention.
Florent + 2025 first + 2026 first and walk buller to draft so carlton can get him ahead of Collingwood (assuming they're ahead in the order).
Carlton get a key forward and buller gets to Vic in a team he'd be best 22 forward
Even without Curnow, decent inclusions with serong + Rosas. Hope we have a good year with injuries and Lmac has a Thilthrope-esque improvement, and Campbell and Dattoli step up.
Forward like of Logan, Amartey, Heeney, Hayward, Papley and Campbell / Dattoli is nicely balanced.
Serong allows Blakey to rebound, and mills to the mids unlocks Heeney to kick 50. Reckon Heeney is hands down the best non-key position forward in the game.
Please no on the Heeney forward thing, just no he's our no1 mid can we keep the bloke there at least for 2 years where he can. That doesn't mean he won't play spurts forward but it's exactly that. Every club would sign up tomorrow if Heeney is playing full time forward, sure he may win a few games...he'll win a bucketload more as a mid!
So many people in here are concerned that Curnow won't be serious if he comes to us because we are not good 'preferred' option, but are happy to take draftees who grew up fanatically supporting another club for their whole life.
Again this misses the point. Heeney might be our best forward and our best midfielder at the same time.
The question actually is where does he make our team better given who else is available. If we had (which by the way we dont) a midfielder as close to him in terms of ball winning youd play heeney forward. This midfielder was josh kennedy.
We havent had anyone capable of replacing this (maybe mills) as an on baller so heeney needs to play in midfield. That Konstanty moment may well be the defining moment for the post 2020 playing group
That bull mid is Callum Mills, hopefully he can be replaced in the backline, and go back to the midfield where he belongs.Easy midfield, you want someone to play more forward move Chad. I sure as anything am not moving our best mid that's the hardest to match up on. I agree Mills to the midfield, and I'd be pushing Rowbottom forward/mid that doesn't mean he won't play some mid minutes but he'd actually do a great role there keep the ball in 50. Then you add Rosas etc. We still lack that bull mid but unless we take 11 to the draft we aint in a position to address this really

I imagine the club would be hoping to woo Charlie in today and trigger a trade requestWe waiting for Charlie to finish his tour before offer?

It's a three way deal where we get Fyfe.Where’s the petracca deal at?
So Mills to midfield is fine if it's for trading Rowy, but you're wary a few hours later. It might be i'm just wary that physically he can't do it full time these days. It is why and bare in mind I hate the contract, but I was on board with getting Oliver, that's obviously not happening. I just wonder whether the Davies one that was mentioned a month ago is in play that would be a late trade. Ideally you need more than just Mills there

Why would we get Davies when you prefer Rowy out of mids?
I think we'll see Heeney in an almost Miers type role, just with a higher time in the guts. Ditto with Gulden and Warner. All players who can be really damaging forward of centre. They absolutely have value in the middle, but their flexibility allows us to exploit matchups going forward and hitting targets.Again this misses the point. Heeney might be our best forward and our best midfielder at the same time.

Awesome news.Rowy has told clubs he's spoken with that he's not going anywhere but staying in Sydney is a line in the sand moment from one of our players.
Oh well!
At least we know there is one after expecting one to appear after the 2022 GF.
