Did you watch Fonti play on the wizard in the first final? Don't think Fonti will be going anywhere - an exceptional athlete. He will power ahead of Fonti and grab that spot in the backline.

What if only 2-3 players indicate they are likely to stay long term at the giants? That would mean that the number of picks isn’t as important as the longevity of their commitment to stay.Caruso with some of his finest work as usual, 2 second round picks to move up a few spots for a guy that was rated at about pick 20 anyway. Nuts how many picks the guy has burnt the past few years trying to be clever. Taylor is a good pick up don't get me wrong, but eventually this silliness will come back to bite.
Just wait till tassie gets in…. Nobody will want to stay there and the problem will be even worse

You are assuming him trading up is to get higher picks, maybe it’s just to secure one of the few prospects that want to actually play at our ground in front of those crowds

The other day Cal said Stone will return via the rookie draft, but there was a chance we might just redraft Stringer through the national draft and promote Madden from the rookie list to the primary list.Picks 65 and 71 will be passed or used for Stringer and Stone.
Is that stringer kid any good? The other day Cal said Stone will return via the rookie draft, but there was a chance we might just redraft Stringer through the national draft and promote Madden from the rookie list to the primary list.
Wonder if this could be a by-product of the drafting approach we've taken under the current team?Yeah I don't think it's really as big of an issue as people think. People love playing at the club now days, they rarely lose talent
I never understand the logic with these statements, we saw Nairn and Pickett jump up from 'end of first round' picks to draft night invitees, these things constantly evolve and clubs view prospects differently having access to pysch's, GPS data and behind the goals vision, whereas a large portion of the media/ General punters watch highlights and get boners over disposal numbers, no one reporting on the draft has half as much of an idea as they like to thinkTaylor I think is a good fit but it wasn't worth a first rounder and two second rounders for a bloke that was slated to go end of first round
Goes ok apparently, but not the best trainer. However by all reports plans to train the house down.Is that stringer kid any good?
Bad for the housing crisisGoes ok apparently, but not the best trainer. However by all reports plans to train the house down.
Tassie will be a bit like us , they will struggle to attract 22-26 they will not be a huge player in but older players will be happy enough to go there to collect some well paid super. They should focus mainly on country kids and building a strong culture….just like us!That's what they said about us. Everyone assumed we would have the retention problems and the Gold Coast would be fine.
We ended up with a much better retention rate than they did in the first decade.
It's not about location, it's about club culture. Tassie gets that right and they'll be fine.
Spot on. Caruso literally said at the final Members Connect they would trade up if they had an opportunity to ensure they get the player they wanted. They never get into "winning" trades. Bidding on the Swans academy player was the cherry on top.His job is to build a list, he has built a terrific list by continuing to bring in good players.
It's not about draft picks or where they are rated it's about using your hand to get the team you want.
WE had 1 list spot and filled it with the type of player we wanted.
I much rather this approach than what SOS and Dodoro do and focus on being the trade winner.
Hopefully Caruso does!Watched Caruso interview on Giants.Website.
He says.they have 1 available list spot.
That could mean
They take a live pick tonight plus.Laverde on.PL and.Stringer and Stone are rookies
But it could mean.Madden is elevated.
Who knows
I was wondering what happened to our second round pick and was hoping we traded to next year and Melbourne I think will be bottom 6 with no Petracca and no Oliver![]()

TRADES COMPLETED DURING 2025 AFL DRAFT
Gold Coast Suns receive Pick 35. GWS receives 2026 second-round pick (tied to Melbourne)
GWS Giants receive Pick 14. Hawthorn receives Pick 16 and a 2026 second-round pick
Comment: If we kept Melbourne's 2nd round pick and gave Hawks our own 2nd round pick, it's a better outcome for us.
So tassie coming in helps us, GWS is better for say 8 years than Tassie for 8 years as a player. What if only 2-3 players indicate they are likely to stay long term at the giants? That would mean that the number of picks isn’t as important as the longevity of their commitment to stay.
