Oh right, I’m sure that’s what you were getting at.

The club had Tarryn from when he was 16, just like the Dogs, some kids just lose their way at that age.

Of course that’s what we are getting at…. Our recruiting manager, Rhys Giesham has explained how highly we rate character, family upbringing etc…

Yes and I quoted parts of it.

I’d like you to explain some of it, preferably with something other than biased, flawed, logic.

Claiming the likes of JHF, Thomas and George as massive drafting errors is just pure stupidity. Something not foreign to the majority of your posts tbh.
You follow your club closely so no need to explain the nuances to you.

But to give you an idea, tell me, are you happy with the way the club handled JHF in relation to his injury and homesickness, and the public comments from Boomer and Noble that was really clear on the club stance?

Were you also ok with the way they handled Taryn with the initial cover up, the captain (who wants out himself now) then backing him and the lettuce leaf punishment early on?

If so, then I can’t really help you. Many clubs have supporters who refuse to believe the club can’t do anything wrong. It’s not rational, but the irrational bias that sometimes comes from passion is understandable.

Im perfectly comfortable with how the club handled Thomas, they gave what is pretty clearly a pretty troubled kid every support mechanism humanly possible to turn it around before cutting ties. Isn’t that what AFL clubs profess to be?

As for JHF, it depends what school of thought you are from. I hear constantly, he was always going to go
home. If that is the case it renders most decisions irrelevant.

As for injury mismanagement and homesickness. Again, complete bullshit.

It only started to blow up because he started ducking off after games back to Adelaide without informing the club. You can see why that might have been an issue and why the club didn’t take too kindly to it, given what eventuated, don’t you?

The club buried Thomas behaviour and blamed the death of his grandmother on his form then non appearance in the first case. When it got out the Captain publicly backed him, and the club gave him a wet lettuce leaf punishment of attending a course. Whether that contributed to him not pulling his head in who knows. And once the AFL took control from the prez of North on this matter the damage was well and truly done.

As for JHF it’s hard to argue whether anything the club could have done would have kept him. If he was always going as you say, it was a mistake to draft him. But how could the club know that having never spoken to him face to face before the draft? The club didn’t do its best to accomodate him and his injury and homesick challenges in his first year though.

But you know all this.

Except North knocked back a massive offer from the crows.

Those picks would have netted them Rachele, Humphrey and Weddle.

Faull is a competitive beast that was regularly playing as our number one forward alongside other first year forwards. His kicking accuracy for goal is the only thing that stopped him having an all time debut year for a key forward coming off no preseason. Had games as follows:

  • 23 possessions, 7 marks and 2 goals
  • 17 possessions, 7 marks and 2 goals
No he didn't?

Humphrey is a miss. The others though, yeah nah. Weddle is the type we need but is he the one? Not sure.

That’s if their recruitment department were smart enough.

LOL. No.

The question you need to ask is would FOS be your best young prospect, the answer to that is probably. Certainly has a brighter future than Hammies.
No he didn't?

Not even close. Some of your fans are ridiculously hopeful.

Pot, meet kettle.

I'd cool your jets on some of your players too, such as old kick scab McKercher who loves racking up cheapies off half back.

lol you missed the memo. He moved into the midfield as didn't miss a beat. He actually went from a genuine squib (Houli with pace) to a 1st choice mid in his 2nd season - (post a mid season chat w Clarko I'll add) he was basically better than Sheezel after Rd 14.

I don't know about Tigerland Cubs, but he's a jet of jets amongst some reasonably talented youngsters.

Chat w Clarko happened post Collingwood or Rd 12. After that he basically turned into our next Brownlow Medalist, I never seen a better young North Mid.

McKercher has had 4 out of 39 career games with 8 or more contested possessions. Harley Reid has had 27 out of 39.

He may play "midfield' but he's not doing heavy lifting.

Agree. He doesn't need to though, you don't plough the field with a Ferrari.

We already have LDU, Sheezel, Wardlaw, FOS, the omni-injured BGeorge yet to have his chance and the Unspeakable Turncoat to do the heavy lifting.

He played the worst team in the comp. He managed 8 inside 50's and only 1 goal assist.

He then proceeded to have 2 goal assists in the last 11 games. So I'm confused, if he's gone into the midfield, and you've admitted he's not doing the contested stuff, but he isn't directly creating goals, and has far more rebound 50's (61) than inside 50's (35). He did manage 13 clearances. Is he even in the midfield or just chip scabbing off half back again?

For example a real Ferrari in McLuggage went from round 13 to the GF
Inside 50's - 77, Rebound 50's - 28, Goal Assists - 11. He also managed 92 clearances

That's what you want your Ferrari doing, not skulking off half back.

Dude, you're talking Norf.
A) wtaf was he kicking it to? B) due to our crab-ness, how many opponents did that player have? 2-3?

If you want to bag Norf, go ahead, but aiming any form of shade towards him or Harry or X is outrageous

You're claiming he moved into the midfield. All his stats indicate he was still floating around half back getting cheap ball. I'm just confused.

He could at least try and get forward of centre.

Chuckle all you want.

I laugh back at you lot thinking Hammies Laylor is even close to our 5th best youngster Hammies Wardlaw. Maybe 5th.
Not sure why you are trying to put Lalor in the Wardlaw vs Weddle/Rachele/Humphrey debate. Deflection perhaps.

Can’t win them all but this was obviously a massive miss.

As you say with your glut of mids you wouldn’t really need George. But Weddle, Humphrey and Rachele all obvious needs. Definitely a top 8 side this year with them in there. And about time too.
