I hope Webber tells Oscar to not let Lando win if it comes down to it, better for his career. A lando wc would definitively put him as the second driver at mclaren

As much as i'd like Piastri to win, i think at this stage id actually rather Max win, because McLaren have been completely ridiculous in managing this season, have boned Oscar regularly and are not worthy of a WDC.

Max has grown on me on and off the track. Mclaren piss me off.

This just feels set up for Max to win.

Which would be absolutely diabolical for anyone associated with McLaren.

It's also done nothing to convince me otherwise in my opinion that it's only helpful to have 1 driver in a team being a genuine WDC candidate.

More likely than Piastri but if Norris somehow fails to score. would make for a huge finish.

This.

There'd be much less aggravation on all sides if their papaya rules wasn't so inconsistent. I kind of want Max to win the WDC to demonstrate the ultimate failing of papaya rules.

So what are the permeations for a non Lando WDC ?

If Max wins, Lando must be 4th or lower in order for Max to win.

If Oscar wins, Lando must be 6th or lower in order for Oscar to win.

Obviously there are more options if another driver wins, but these would require Lando to DNF.

If Oscar wins and Max is second, what would the tie-break be between the two of them since they would be on equal points?

Goes by most wins so in that instance, I think that pushes Oscar ahead.

After points, the tie-break is # of wins - currently stands 7-7-7 - so if any of them end up on equal points, winner takes all.

If they end up on equal points, and someone else wins...then,

Then podiums.....

then countback system.

If on same points;

win countback, if same
2nd place countback, Lando wins as often the bride, 8-6-4

No one podiums, Norris wins.
Norris on podium, Norris wins.

Probably best scenario is Lando bottles it, as that way we can get a count back and he can salty run back on 2nds so MCL can clench.

Think this is right:

It's still possible for Max/Oscar to be WDC, but honestly pretty unlikely unless Norris DNF. The McLaren's are THAT good. Lando wins on Podiums countback, so a tie doesn't help Oscar/Max.

Currently: Norris 408, Verstappen 396 (12pts), Piastri 392 (16pts).

In Abu Dhabi:
If Norris finished 1st, 2nd or 3rd, he's WDC (duh). If he finishes:
  • 4th/5th, Max has to win the race to be WDC. Oscar can't beat Lando even with a win.
  • 6th, Max/Oscar have to win - winner takes all.
  • 7th - Max can win WDC with 2nd place, so long as Oscar doesn't win. If Oscar wins, he's WDC
  • 8th - Max can win WDC with 2nd place, so long as Oscar doesn't win. If Oscar wins, he's WDC
  • 9th - Max can win WDC with 2nd/3rd place so long as Oscar doesn't win. Oscar can finish 2nd and would tie with Lando (Lando wins on Podium countback), so long as Max finishes 4th or below.
  • 10th - Max can win with 2nd/3rd place so long as Oscar doesn't win. Oscar can finish 2nd and win the WDC, so long as Max finishes 4th or below.

If Lando wins the WDC, he will have taken the 4th longest to do so (by races), winning in his 152nd GP.

Button (169), Mansell (176), and Rosberg (206 GP!)
At the ripe old age of 26.

Does feel like he's been around a while.
