Do Collingwood need to enter a rebuild phase?

Collingwood are always a chance . The 14 odd games at the G and the non travel burden benefits them greatly and keeps them in a small window on nearly a permanent basis.
How come Carlton and Essendon are yet to have a window for more than 20 years, when they also have the similar "non travel burden" and get 17 games at their home grounds?

Collingwood had an 8-6 win loss in the second half of the year. I think they have lost their auora with other clubs.

They didnt need houston, houstons manager got him there because hes a good player but hes not what you need, he should have gone to either the dees, blues or roos.

I worry about their coaching setup, a lot of experience is gone, and leppa is new into hes role, whos challenging mccrae in their coaching group with experience and making the hard call on experienced players out of form? Pendlebury, howe, sidebottom, Moore, elliott, membury could all fall over the edge fast.

Theres also no experienced development coaches so are the younger guys been developed as well?

I see a Kansas city chiefs season ahead, competitive but will start losing close games, and finish 9-13.

They should have traded houston this year and they need to find a robin to help Nick daicos for the next 10 years, who will be a top 5 player in the comp in that time.

  • Hawthorn
  • Melbourne
  • Richmond
How many games did the eagles play in WA in 2025 ?

When Moore is struggling it exposes average defenders like Frampton and Dean.

Miochek was basically the number one forward and he’s now gone.

Agree with your point on Dean which is why he’s been delisted, granted he only got games because all our other tall defenders were injured. Frampton was a reliable defender last season regardless of Moore’s form though.

Mihocek may seem like a huge loss but it would’ve been irresponsible as a club to give him the deal that Melbourne did. His body was breaking down at the tail end of the season. We essentially need to replace 36 goals which we should be able to do with a combination of Elliott, Bobby, DeGoey, McStay, West, Schultz, Buller and Harrison.

Miochek controls that forward and the reason it has functioned.

Not really. I would say that is the job that Cox did. Mihocek is more the opportunist that can play tall or short. McStay can play tall. Elliott can play tall or short. Hopefully someone like Buller/McStay can play the Cox role and West can replace the Mihocek role.

Miochek work rate and forward craft was his strength and the forward line benefited as a result. Not sure Buller West have either.
McStay is ok as the third tall at best.

Can't disagree with most of that because Buller and West are mostly an unknown at AFL level and Mihocek at Collingwood was exactly as you described when fit. I will disagree with the McStay comment. He has really struggled with injury at the Pies but there have been patches were he was averaging 2 goals a game and looked like a high marking power forward. At times he has shown some good pack marking skills and at 196cm he can play that key position role. If he can get some consistency going throughout next year he will be an excellent contributor. We just need a few contributions of 20-30 goals from 4-5 forwards for our forward line to consistently perform as they do most years.

But they don't play the amount of games you play at the G, and especially not groups of 6-7 in a row like you guys get.
Add to that they play shit footy and there you have it.
You can't escape it DG, Collingwood are the most looked after team in the comp.
Stop trying to excuse it away and just accept it,,,,,,,,,we have.

The argument is still revolving around a few points.

Collingwood relies on old players (we don't).
Collingwood has little proven youth (we don't).
Mid season drafts and traded in players don't count (they do, and we're the best at plucking smokeys mid season).
You have to tank and take multiple top 10 picks to build a list, its the only way to succeed (lol).

I can see the argument for the cliff, but there's not a lot of intellectual weight to it as presented beyond "muh numbers".

So let's get this straight...

One of the main reasons Collingwood are THE most 'looked after team in the competition' is because Carlton and Essendon play shit footy, and can't make the most of similar advantages?

Also love their argument about playing 14 games at the MCG

WTF ?
Where are they meant to play at Moorabbin ?
MCG is Collingwoods home ground and clearly should play their home games there
Now is it also the pies fault that Richmond , Hawks and Bombers also have the MCG as their home ground and also play there ?

How many games do the interstate teams play in their states ? 12 / 13 ?
So that 1 game extra make all the difference FMD

Look... Fly really wishes he was chris scott.. But his dreamin... Its cliff time for pies

Fly has won premiership in 25% of years he's been coaching

Chris Scott has an inferior record of only winning flags in 13.33% of years he's been coaching.

Chris Scott wishes he was Fly McRae.
In all seriousness, his clearly one of the best in the league fly, i would easily have him ahead of fagan who has coasted with every advantage shoved up his backside.

Only one of them got their team into a grand final this year.
