essendon aren't in no man's land, this is a stupid thread.

They are lower but i reckon trending better with the ousting of the sheedy/dodoro crew.

lot of dud players but some good young ones in the last two drafts.

I feel like I've heard this before about the Bombers.

People love talking about Essendon. The fascination with our great empire never waivers decade after decade. Media and opposition fans haven’t stopped talking about us since Dick Reynolds made his debut.
Probably goes even further back when Albert Thurgood became the league’s first true superstar celebrity footballer.

So you opposition fans keep chatting like little penguins about all things Essendon. You know you love us. Fear us. Envy us.

Our corporate sponsors thank you for the
never ending online presence your clicks generate for the club.

You guys are awesome.

I envy all the coin you've saved on finals tickets the past 2 decades

this is why no reasonable Essendon supporter is counting its chickens yet.

All the cliches have rolled out this pre season, who cares, do it on a cold wintry Saturday night in the middle of June

I maintain that ever since I think it was Jay Clark first on "First Crack" that Essendon were irrelevant has since become the most talked about football club. Need a bump? talk Essendon. Need some clicks? talk Essendon.

We're just giving other clubs a chance to catch up #17

It’s true. Algorithm true.

Others don’t get it.

But that’s ok. It means enthusiastic sponsors eager to inject massive amounts of money into our vast empire of a club get what they pay for. Eyeballs interested in all that is EFC. Be it good or bad news.

Pay per Clicks is what it’s about at the backend of online revenue at AFL juggernauts such as our good selves.

We dominate it all. More than Collingwood. Because our news creates hate comments galore and we benefit financially from those clicks.

It’s a beautiful thing…

JC is our conduit connecting the masses to Tullamarine HQ 👌

Good doco this if you've got about over an hour to spare. Although it covers nothing Bombers fans don't already know.

The supplements fiasco didn't help obviously but the conclusion i take from after watching that video, is that Essendon's problems over the past two decades can be reduced to and explained by two words Adrian Dodoro.

And that’s why we love The Dodo!

So you're copping criticism for making bad decisions? Hence the thread.

I'm on record ITT observing this isn't normal for Essendon historically. It took a lot to keep your mob quiet 1966-1983, you overcame the zones rort faster than we did. So there's only been two long droughts for you, and the current one is the longest and worst.

To see the Bombers wallow in no mans land for so long is unusual, and your enemies delight.

Still not out of the woods. I think Scott is solid, a good coach, but there's still healing needed from the Rutten debacle, and it will be hard to make rational decisions while Sheedy has Welsh in charge. Welsh is a Hird acolyte right?

You can do something, vote in elections etc. Be the change you want to see.

Maybe you won't. In my experience Bombers are a fatalistic mob. the club works hard for success, but surprisingly nearly all are less arrogant than say Pies or Blues (or even Tigers, and what do they have to be arrogant about?).

The exception is Hird. He genuinely seems to be the most arrogant person in the league, beyond a Carey or a McLachlan. People formed a false view Buckley was arroagnt because he was so hard on himself. Hird is the real deal, the OG FIGJAM. Imagine prefacing a statement around drug cheating by mentioning you've won three ANZAC Day medals.

He is a very un-Essendon person. He was part of the drugs scandal (although IMHO it was mostly Bomber) and should have had a life ban for that: he should never be let near a football field again. Yet he is being touted as the messiah (another non-Essendon notion, the greatest Bombers are all team men, Reynolds and Watson are the archetypes).

I feel Hird is the cancer, and it keeps coming back. Cut deeper, or the thread stays.

What's your opinion of Jobe at the time? Captain and also the links with his old man obviously, he would have a high level of authority at the time? Do you think he should have shouldered more blame?

On an unrelated note, i've always wondered about the legitimacy of those two flags Geelong won when Bomber Thompson was coaching there.

Everything could be clean of course but the question marks are there nonetheless.

He probably should've been made coach of Essendon back in 2010, with James Hird serving as his understudy. Hird being hird though probably and most likely wasn't open to that idea.

They backed their leader. They paid a price (pretty low price in the end).

Bomber Thompson got off extremely lightly.

This is like an Albanian bragging about Alexander the Great

What I don't get is why this thread and the saints one stay on the main board but the Carlton one got quietly moved to bay 13.
Essendon threads get more clicks with more moderate comments of engagement.

99% of Carlton threads descend into the murky swamp depths of pond scum keyboard stokes. And no one wants to read that.
