Autopsy Autopsy vs Fremantle: lol

Goldy makes me sad and angry. Cranky to be exact. There was a period in the second where he visibly lifted. He jumped. He moved his arms around while holding the ball in a tackle trying to get rid of it. He tried to outmuscle the fat kid. He looked a different player. literally. And then he buggered off again. Night and day in terms of intensity when looking at that short period. He is clearly still CAPABLE. I think the bronx cheers prickled his pride a bit. Then he remembered he cant be ****ed and went through the motions.

Sick of the guy. **** whatever trade value he has, **** his salary. Get him out of the team and get Preuss in. Preuss/Daw should be the combo we trial for the rest of the year to find out how well they work together (my guess is quite well considering how different they are). Trade him for an early second or even just fire the bastard. Ironically seeing him play with intensity is what killed my patience with him for goo

Watched Majak closely today and he doesn't run. Just walks/jogs.
He is not up to it - why we continued to kick the ball to him is beyond me - every ball should have been directed at Brown. Maj is a horrible forward.

The positive were the kids - Hibberd, Simpkin, McDonald, Nielson & Mountford all showed good signs.

Positives:

- Seen some good glimpses of our young brigade, hibbered, Jy and Neilson did some nice things. Will be better for the run
- Thought LT played the shut down role well. Persist
- We would be absolutely stuffed without Brown. He is now taking number one defenders and tackling. Love him to bits
- Cunnington is a elite midfielder
- Zeebs and fishy took the game on which was good to see. Pretty sick of the horrible hack kicks though

Negatives:
- Daw. Jesus Christ why do you look so disinterested? We backed you in and even extended contract all for you to rock up and give us a measly 4 possession. Piss poor
- Goldy. Knew he wasn't going to kick it. He has become my least favourite player for the past decade. Absolutely putrid even though tried hard, he's fumbly and looks like a 87 year old man. Over it, but as usual will NEVER be dropped for whatever reason
- Wagner. I don't rate him. Doesn't do anything and hasn't done a thing since we got him
- Something is wrong with dumont. Why do we always seem to go backwards with development of these young players instead of becoming better. He is carrying something obviously

Let's get the first round draft pick.
I can't see us beating anyone even if we tried like we did today. I mean **** me freo had 3 injured players

Oh and I would be extremely worried that we haven't signed Pruess...

Meh. I find it hard to be too critical of Jack. Keeps being played in the wrong position and I'll be amazed if he isn't mainlining painkillers mid game to deal with pain. He looks in terrible health. Still tries his guts out though, and a lot of those hack kicks are to no one's advantage and under serious pressure. It does kill me a bit on the inside when he miskicks a simple 20-30 meter kick under minimal pressure, same as it does when a dozen other players do the same thing every 6th disposal.

Yeah, he should have better decision making and disposal, but so should 90% of our squad. I've accepted he will always be a B+ or A- player at best unless the team is reshaped.

IMO the club is doing him a disservice.

He looks exhausted

Man, our midfield must be the laughing stock of the league. Opposition teams must be kicking their chops when they look a thing the fixture and see they're up against NMFC.

Being chased around by Swallow, Dumont, Ziebell and Cunnington. How slow can you get? You can only really afford a couple of Cunnington types.

I'm in a doom and gloom kinda mood. So here's some biting criticism:

1. Wagner won't make it.
2. Not sure how much longer we can persist playing Majak out of position (he's a ruckman, it's clear as day).
3. Goldstein's confidence is so low that I'm not sure there's a way back. I saw Aaron Black do the kind of things he was doing today. Fumbles. Shanks.
4. May be time to cut our losses and play JZ as a full time forward.
5. Dumont won't reach any heights above Bastinac. Good honest footballer, that's it.
6. I can't afford to watch another game with Swallow in the team. Opposition just direct all their forward movement through his opponent because he's too slow to go with them. Can't hurt them going the other way.

Typical loss with senior players not standing up when needed.

But as everyone keeps saying a win wouldn't achieve much anyway. I'm just scared that Brad Scott will turn the No.2 pick into a turnip.

The club needs a big reset including the coaching department.

Pruess surely needs to get rewarded now. Goldstein's credits well and truly gone.

The worst thing is he is going to be thrown against Ryder who is one the most athletic big men going around. Should have been playing today.

Other thoughts....

Glad to see LT doing reasonably well in a new position.
Brown's marking today was amazing, competed beautifully all day. Some games he looks really limited when not just marking balls on the lead, today wasn't one of those days.
Happy with Luke's game, seeing more and more glimpses of what he will bring to us. Ability/willingness to take on tacklers and break through or get a good disposal off will be a real asset, as well as his bravery, marking ability, and improved skills.
The kids were a mixed bag, but they are always going to be at this stage of their (both individual and team) development. We're getting games into them, that's the main thing. Dumont is a bit of a worry atm though, and I'm really holding out on Garner's skills suddenly clicking.
I thought Thompson was one of our best backs, continues to be one of our better players on his good days.
Fremantle are pretty terrible, even before all their injuries. We didn't exactly cover ourselves on glory today. Good for them, I guess.

We kick one more goal each game and we'd have won five more games and be equal 4th.

We're not contending this year, but we're very competitive while playing a lot of kids and we'll pick up a top pick for once.

Don't sweat the small stuff, we're cool.

if only we had a player who averaged a goal a game, hang on a minute, didnt we let one go last year under some sort of BS excuse ?

after the initial fury and a bit of a think about it, the result is meaningless, the blokes are obviously trying and endeavour never looks like the issue. its just that they are playing under such a disadvantage regarding out midfield and lack of cattle to win in the middle, the backline was under immence pressure today,

i think higgo and cunners are at least making a go of it but we fall of a cliff after that in the middle. JZ tries hard but mistakes are far to numerous.
swallow, past it, still chops in and tried his guts out but just torches to many passages of play. having said that cant see to many in the magoos who would make a better hand of it.
dumont i have been really disappointed with this year,
the rat goes about it pretty well , is clean and tracking well,
mountford has a good footy head on his shoulders and looked pretty composed, needs to play out the year.
surely there cant be any harm in throwing jy in the guts? just reads it soooo much better than anyone alse and his little touches can be so damaging.
if we are going in without wood JZ definately plays down frw helping BBB out,
he missed the late shot but his set shots are prolly 3rd behind BBB and higgo.
fishy had a good game,
LMac was better in the 2nd half but i dont think he is going to make it in the short term as a mid,
LT was servicable down back and by the looks of it sammy it would seem aint coming back.
nielson got a good taste of it,
Majak just a placeholder at the moment,
goldy..>>> see all the other posts.

Other than that I look fwd to what larkey can show of the back of what Nyhuis showed today.

He did this against Richmond as well... Totally took over the game for about 10 minutes and was involved in about 4 scoring passages, including a goal to himself... From memory; it was in the 2nd qtr again.

Can't expect to win when you kick 2/3 or 3/4 of your total score in the 2nd half each week.

Can we ever play 4 qtrs? Only had against Melb.i think the first 4 qtr game in many years

Wagner's first 7 games have all been losses. I wonder who the last NMFC player was to wait so long to sing the song?

Wagner played in the win over Adelaide in Round 7 (not for long, mind, and I don't know if he hung around to sing the song given his injury...)

Don't see much talk about Atley's game but thought he was key to getting us back into it. His last month or so has been pretty encouraging.

I'll take the #2 draft pick over a win any day, a win would have been nice but not at the expense of a number 1 or 2 draft selection.
I'd rather a winning culture and get pick 5 or 6 . Kelly and Martin won't be coming if we can't win a game
