The Morrison government will take the climate change fight to Labor today – and try to shore up some of its own seats – by pledging up to $3.5 billion in carbon abatement and other environmental measures, including a $2 billion extension to the Abbott's government's emissions reduction fund.
Despite insisting repeatedly that Australia was on track to meet its 2030 Paris emissions reduction target "in a canter", Prime Minister Scott Morrison will unveil the new spending, which he says will ensure Australia meets the target while not damaging its economy.
"We don't believe we have to choose between our environment and our economy. We don't believe such an outlook is measured, balanced, practical or helpful,"' he will say at a speech in Melbourne.

1/ Morrisson generally flat out refuses to go on his show along with most of his cabinet.
2/ Faine is already walking a tight line regarding perceived bias
3/ Morrisson was in full shout over the top of him mode and change the subject mode. As soon as Jon Faine threatened to mention the security deal Morrisson started shouting over the top about Helloworld.
4/ Morrison was also in full fake news mode - "that report was wrong" and when questioned why he doesn't offer one detail.

This government is currently completely beyond any questioning.

Morrison has gone full Trump and hope Australians don't fall for it.

Clearly Morrison has two big wheels in his office. He spun the first one which came up with "help my mates". Then he spun the second wheel and it said call it "environmental policy".

I’ve just finished work so not looked into it yet but from what I’ve seen at a glance it’s basically exactly the same as what they currently are doing but just more money but was a compromise with the party conservatives who think anything more then nothing is too much.

Huge, but not impossible, task that neither side has the political will to achieve.

If there is an economic downturn, especially in construction, it could represent a huge boost to that sector at it's cheapest and make that problem go away.

If the running costs are less than currently spent by a significant amount then it seems like a no-brainer win-win-win.

It would be a huge project though.
