In: McHenry, Greenwood, Cey/Davis
Out: Seeds, Knight, Jenkins

Lynch Cey/Davis Jones
Betts Walker McHenry

Our forward line is shocking atm. Betts and Jenkins have 3 goals for the season, Tex 2, deplorable. Id personally drop Tex but how often does a captain get dropped let alone one at a such a conservative club as the AFC. Mchenry is a first rounder, fast track him. Cey probably over Davis so he can ruck.
Sloane to the wing to cover Seeds, Greenwood to the middle.

Scorpus denied in the SANFL thread that he had called for EIGHT changes. This must be the other Scorpus .

Perhaps whichever Scorpus wrote the post above should occasionally watch the SANFL team. Fogarty, Gallucci and Himmelberg has struggled in both SANFL matches. McHenry, Davis and Greenwood have had less touches than the average David Mackay match. Stengle offered less than Matty Wright last night.

The only players in our Twos who are putting their hands up are Poholke, Wilson and CEY but you don’t include Wilson and CEY in your EIGHT changes.

Can you answer a simple question Scorpus? Were you at the Bay last night? Did you watch the match? Perhaps the highlights?

This post was from Thursday, before the SANFL game, like I said in the other thread that you ignored. Your attempts to catch me out on this stuff is pathetic and childish

For the record I did watch the SANFL match and revised my changes in a post you also ignored.

Here they are because you obviously can't be bothered searching for them and don't care either in your desperate search for internet points:

Out: Seedsman (knee), Kelly, Lynch, Atkins, Mackay
In: Gallucci, Stengle, Davis, Greenwood, Poholke

Gallucci and Stengle were much better than people made it out last night. Stengle I thought was actually pretty good and one of the few players inside 50 who was creating options. Gallucci was fine and easily would offer more than a 12-touch Atkins. Greenwood I also thought did some nice things and was the most creative of our inside players around the contest.

Wilson's disposal isn't good enough, his kicking is not AFL standard. Worse disposal than Gallucci. CEY was fine but is inferior to both Greenwood, Poholke and several others as a forward rotation option, there's no room for him in the inside midfield so there's no point playing him

I also don't give a flying **** if the players had less touches than Mackay or Stengle offered less than Matty Wright, the last part I completely disagree with anyway. And I'll tell you one thing, players in our AFL team are not putting their hands up to play either like Mackay, Kelly and Atkins so get them out of the team and try something different.

Maybe you shouldn't assume I don't watch the SANFL team before you comment?

So I didn’t fabricate that you called for EIGHT changes. Do you think it was a good idea shooting your load before the Twos had played?

You obviously did not see the Twos live or you would have noticed that Stengle’s running patterns were less than spectacular. Both he and Davis (and I was pumping up Ben Davis before you knew he existed) are very clever when they are near the ball but don’t get near the ball enough. Do you want to guess how many Joe the Goose goals that Stengle has kicked this year?

You surely didn’t notice the shocking dirposal of Gallucci last night.

There is no doubt that we have plenty of players in our AFL team that are performing poorly. Replacing them with players performing poorly in the Twos doesn’t seem like a great idea.

From the SANFL side I would only consider Stengle for Murphy, Poholke or Davis for a HF role coming in for Seedsmsn and I would actually bring CEY in.

CEY into the centre rotations with the Brothers allowing Sloane and Gibbs to be posted up forward. Stengle in for Murphy who does plenty 1%'s but doesn't hit the scoreboard, use Knight as the defensive forward. And then finally Poholje or Davis to provide and option up forward.

Shift Lynch onto the wing along with Milera/Atkins and have Smithers at HBF.

Completely disagree on Stengle. He was getting the ball on the lead and creating opportunities around packs. I remember 2-3 times where he got the ball inside 50 in a scoring position only to have a non existent free called against him. He also had I think it was 1-2 shots from the pocket that missed. Could have kicked 4+ had things gone his way. Also didn't mind his pressure although it wasn't to the level of Murphy.

Davis doesn't get the ball much but he has something I'd like to see at AFL level.

Gallucci had a few poor disposals but also a few neat kicks that the receiving player stuffed up. I also thought he was one of our few players that was creating space for himself, bursting out of contested situations and looking reasonably lively. I think he'll add to the side.

I'm more than happy to discuss my thoughts on who should come in but I don't appreciate the assumption that I didn't watch the twos and have no idea what the kids are up to

Given they played Fog as a defender he ain’t coming in as a forward so I’ve tweaked my team and kept in mind the selectors won’t drop certain players.

B: Murphy Talia Hartigan
HB: Smith Keath Gibbs
C: Laird Sloane Atkins
HF: Knight Tex Milera
F: Greenwood Jenkins Betts

R: O’Brien Matt Brad

I/C: Lynch Mackay Jones Poholke

Not my ideal team as our forward line woes are still there, out of form older forwards but we won’t drop Betts for Stengle.

Milera to be rotating mid.
Agree we need to mix it up, so like your defence.

Would like to see Milera play wing/inside mid, rather than up forward. Think Greenwood & Sloane more suited to mid/forwards.

Needs to be change to structures though.

Milera is changing inside mid off half forward as would Sloane and greenwood, but imagine Greenwood would be more up forward for a while if he’s still building his tank

Sloane & Greenwood could rotate with Sloane playing 80% on ball & Hugh 80% up forward.

I just don't like Milera at half forward as drops out of the play. Needs to be midfield or half back for me

Given our extra runner against Geelong and how the coaches struggled to deal with it, the forced change I'd make is

Seed -> Davis

Otherwise, there is no obvious replacement for Kelly or Harto unless Fog/Otten lightup the sanfl... And this is no time to be Otten in a selection frame.

I'd look to build fitness in Gooch for another week or two before replacing Jones (pending form) or send a rocket up Gibbs for his insipid effort.
I am not sure why you would drop Jones? I find this dumbfounding. I would drop 10 players before him. Can name them if you like. Kelly, Gibbs, Mackay, Atkins Lynch, Walker, Jenkins, ROB, Murphy, Knight, Betts. Couldnt stop at 10. Why would you replace the 1 player with pace when we are bloody slow? Would put him in the middle and on the wing. That's how high I rate him.

Blighty would not cope with today’s tactics. He was a match day genius but it’s all done through the week now from what I’ve beeb told so why do we even need coach on gameday
Blighty should be football operations boss and also in match committee. I would also like him in the box on game day. See's the game better than most.

Were you at the Bay last night? If you are not seeing the game live then you can only comment on what the players do when the ball is near them. That is not the problem for Stengle, it is his work when he doesn’t have the ball. It is not terminal and I hope he continues to improve this area of his game and plays good footy in the AFL.

I think you have admitted that your call for EIGHT changes was over the top so let’s just agree to disagree.

Just watched the replay from Thursday night again and three of those fifties paid against us (walker one was def not a fifty) in the first really hurt us when u look at the overall match and margin . .
Yeah it was, they all were.

Like it, won't happen but I like it.

I think our forward problems right now require someone who is an expert at kicking goals when the ball is near them, rather than a player who runs around neatly when the ball isn't near them. We have that sort of player in the team in Murphy, and as good as his pressure is, we have too many of his type that can't turn that work off the ball into success in front of goal.

Which is why I'd push Murphy to the back pocket and put Stengle up forward.

As a side note it's impossible for me to attend SANFL games as I don't live in SA. Would love to, but I can't

It's a great idea which is exactly why our coaches will never do it. Can't have a player in a position they didn't train throughout the off season!

Unless you’re a mediocre plodder with over 150 games in which case you’re capable of playing nearly everywhere.

No point bottoming out this year, our first rounder is dependent upon Carlton’s finishing position, not ours. Still, I’d be dropping underperforming seniors to see if we can shake up our culture a bit.

Port showing the difference between merely selecting young players - and trusting them.

Rozee would have been running around Glenelg Oval Friday Night, no way he would be given the opportunity under Campo and co.

If there was ever a year to max out with 7th, this is the one.
