last I heard Buckley wasnt claiming any high ground in fact doesnt want to give the issue and the morons any more oxygen

I said, "will the media not paint Buckley … ".

Bucks has made his comments, fair enough, he was well within his rights to make those comments.

All teams have morons who carry on, no teams supporters have clean hands on this booing issue.

I haven't seen many Collingwood supporters stating this, but there are many Essendon supporters crying in here, I bet if i ventured over to your board, there would be many more sooks there also
funny that. I've seen many neutral fans stating Collingwood were kissed on the dick. Cant find one stating Essendon were

Almost 24 hours on, I've changed my mind. Booing is fine. I've got no issues booing at any stage.

Fans booed at a football game, not a bloody funeral....we need to get over it and get over ourselves as the morally outraged generation.

Good on ya Bombers fans!!! Keep up the passion.

I'm surprised so many stayed for the presentations, i thought that was real classy

after all the outrage the real story is what a great game it was, how many fans are invested in our great game, and what a great rivalry our great clubs really have. Forever may it last

You mean the same way when Nick Riewoldt took the stage at the 2010 Grand final parade and Collingwood supporters drowned him out? He too had to pause until it stopped.

Absolutely, disgraceful behaviour by the Collingwood fans.

Wake up! Their were about 7-8 plan as day frees that shouldve gone to the bombers. Again why the outage from many non ess supporters cause we saw it like it was.
The outrage exists because "neutrals" love to lay the boot into tall poppies. If Carlton was up and about, "neutral" Tiger supporters would be suggesting that the Bombers were shafted. If the Bombers were up and about, "neutral" Tiger supporters would be suggesting that the Pies were shafted. But as it is, Collingwood are up and about and the Pies are tall poppies.

It's a bit like how Richmond was everyone's 2nd team until they became good after 25 years. I haven't heard many say that the Tigers are their 2nd team in the past 3 years.

Mate, go to any game day thread and read the crying about umpires, the losing team always cries they were hard done by, then you have 2 sets arguing about it, non supporters of both sides arguing

A few years back Buckley blamed the media for giving booing too much attention. That was of course when a player not on his team was getting boo’d, but fans from Collingwood were dishing it out.

Speaking on Fox Footy’s AFL 360 on Monday night, Buckley was asked if he felt moved when hearing the boos. He responded by accusing the media of encouraging the booing by giving it column inches and airtime.
“I’m not listening for it (the booing) mate, I’m just watching the bloke play,” said Buckley.
“Why give it any air? We’ve given it too much air. It’s the first thing you read about in the paper or hear about on the radio because you guys (the media) are listening for it intently.”

“You’re listening for it intently because it’s a story that continues,” said Buckley. “It happens but you don’t have to focus on it heavily.”

Here we are a couple of years later, and we have a story about booing blown out of proportion, in part due to Buckley saying “Shame on anyone booing a champion”. Whose making the story bigger now??

So many opinions,
I understand the anger for the booing is it right or wrong?
The respect shown before the game was amazing 92,000 people totally silent i applaud every person there for doing so.

This is Anzac day a day to be respectful for those that fought for our Country,
Can you imagine how many soldiers that supported both clubs battled side by side against the Japanese as an example.

The booing was wrong considering the occasion and more so not to Collingwood but people from the RSL and other people involved in our Armed Forces that where in attendance.

(Lest We Forget)

Which ones?

Collingwood supporters and the more level headed and rule-knowing neutrals have pointed out two terrible decisions that gifted Essendon goals

No one has established these large numbers of wrong decisions that didn't go Essendon's way let-a-lone actually impacted the score board

No. He was right then and more or less tried to say the same thing in the press conference.

It's ok for someone to call it out in the moment but the fact the media won't stfu about it is the problem.

Well, I guess on this occasion, he couldn't just watch the bloke play, as the game was over. Also, it was pretty obvious the boos. Hard not to hear them.

Secondly, he's made the same point then, as he did in his Presser, the more the media focus on it, the more of an issue it will become.

Buckley's not a hypocrite at all in this case.
