Both about right we more likely are overpaying for Max King but get Carmichael on a bargain.

Why could we not have guaranteed Buller a regular spot next year? Showed enough IMO. More than one or two others.

I was kind of waiting for him to fail but he kept clunking marks and converting some surprisingly tough kicks.
Has a lay back on the kick technique but was effective. There was at least enough shown that to lose him for little would seem disappointing.

He may well have a spot for the taking, but it's perception.

We're getting Logan, Amartey back and rumoured to have been in the market for a KPF from elsewhere e.g. JUH, Curnow.

Even if he thinks he could get and stay ahead of McLean (which I do too), there's no guarantee if he re-signed, that we don't suddenly have Curnow as a serious option (Cats can't get it done etc).

From his point of view he's got to decide whether he puts off a decision to see if there's a spot with us, or go ahead with the Pies, who might move on if he doesn't.

He would have been third at best, behind Amartey and McDonald who are both proven performers, competing with McLean, also a proven performer. Probably playing 2s. At the Pies likely to be number 2 behind Mihocek as Membrey is cooked and McStay perpetually injured. If I was him, I'd take the Pie's offer.

Eagles received their compo package:

* end-of-first-round pick (currently Pick 19), but will likely end up at around Pick 21 or 22 once Band 1 FA compensation picks are handed out (they also don't have to trade it like North had to)

* 4 extra rookie spots for the next three seasons, but the provision could change if the Eagles make a sudden surge up the ladder.
