I'm not 12 anymore so first and foremost, I want a contest when I watch test cricket. Unless we're up against the Proteas, of course. Granted, they've succumbed to some pretty epic seam bowling but England's top order has still been dreadful this tour.

Gees our batters would struggle mightily if they had to face our bowlers. Apart from Head and Carey it’s been very hit and miss. Kwahaja has had a decent test. Labuschagne looks cooked, Green averaging 20 last 15 innings and Ingles bot up to it. Give Weatherald a pass.

As for BBL, I give a go now and then but to no success. It looks like the same game every game. Meaningless garbage

To be fair I expected them to be skittled yesterday, and they’ve managed to take the game to mid afternoon on day 5. They should a fair bit of backbone that’s otherwise been lacking this series, albeit too little too late.

 

[99 Problems]

When Bazball started it made sense to play really aggressive cricket because they just didn't have the talent. Increasing variance was their best chance to get results and they also needed to improve the spirit around the team. At some point though it became cult-like and instead of refining it they took it way too far. They have an all-time great in Root and serious talent now in players like Brook, Smith and Archer but they are nowhere near it mentally still. A change in coach and attitude and they could become a pretty handy team.

It's a bit sad but feels like this summer is the end of the road for this Aussie team. Lyon and Usman showing their age and Hazlewood missed the whole summer. Starc and Boland won't play another home Ashes. Throw in Smith's issue and Cummins sounds like he might not play again this series. Hopefully they find a way to finish them off 5-0 as it's been one of our great eras and they deserve to go out in style.
