I'm gunna say it. I don't like the Bears guernsey as a clash guernsey. I thought it was fun last season for a one-off "heritage" guernsey, play the bears song etc. When it became more that a one-off I thought why are we wearing it again? No problem with the colours but stick a Lion on it.

I have no problem with it given the club has shown too much favouritism in recent years to Fitzroy. My problem is why don't we just use the bears colours with the fitzroy logo like we did a few seasons ago? That is objectively a better jersey

Que?

our away jersey uses Fitzroy's colours. most of our recent one-off jumpers have been fitzroy jerseys (and we will have one this year as well). Since the merger, the bears has been almost largely ignored - which is why i'll never complain about the clubs recent efforts to bridge that gap.
I'll trade you one Bears guernsey for 11 home games a year.

A little history lesson on Fitzroy colours. The secret is in the song. It goes like this: "We are the boys from old Fitzroy, we wear the colours Maroon & Blue."

I also don't want us to wear the FFC guernsey every other week, but as a 1-off heritage round I'm all for it. As a heritage round 1-off, I can also support the Lions wearing a Bears guernsey. More regularly than that, it doesn't make sense.

This is the clash guernsey I can happily support.

Hot take: but this is actually my favourite Brisbane jersey. Something so aesthetically pleasing when you mesh maroon with golden yellow. It's both quintessentially queenslander while evoking all parts of our history. I love the bears jersey, but this one here is an upgrade in all forms. I also believe all of our jerseys should have golden cuffs on them and i was disappointed when they took it off the away jersey.

We had achieved what I would view as the perfect equilibrium with our 3 guernseys in 2024 - 3 premiership Lion jumpers each with a colour scheme that gives the nod evenly to our unique and shared history, whilst preserving our new (merged) identity - the Brisbane Lions.

Then last year, we got the soft launch of what came to be our official clash guernsey for 2025. It's a beautiful strip, no doubt, however I am fiercely opposed to any pure Bears or Fitzroy jumper becoming a permanent part of our 3-jumper setup. Such strips should be reserved solely as one-off or promotional kits.

Picking sides creates precisely the type of division between the respective supporter bases and undermines the very thing that has made our shared club so strong - the unification that allowed each club to rise from the most lowly depths to become the most successful team in the AFL era.

As for being 'over represented' by Fitzroy-inspired kits, it needs to be acknowledged that we are the Brisbane Lions - the merger deal essential let the Bears keep their team and city, while adopting the Roy's identity (and rich +100-year history).

So respectfully, let's return to our 3 premiership Lions please.

This is easily the best clash guernsey we've ever had. And I don't just think that cos we were wearing it in that Giants semi either.

I saw someone's comment on SM that the BB logo looks like the :poo: emoji and now I can't unsee it.

As someone from the Bears side of the merger, I'd echo some of the comments above. It's kinda cool to see it on a special occasion, but that should not be a full-time clash guernsey. And to be honest I always felt that logo was a bit naff.

The yoke works better with the Lion, but if the point is to honour the Bears, the V guernsey was easily the best and we should go with that as a one-off heritage guernsey. It represents the era when the Bears actually started playing in Brisbane, became member-owned, and started making finals. The yoke with triangle logo, on the other hand, represents playing on the Gold Coast, Christopher Skase and being the joke of the league.

Plus it's just a better-looking guernsey IMO. Even leaving club loyalty aside, it's one of the two most beautiful guernseys I've ever seen, the other being the Port prison bars.

A mate always used to refer to it as the Fat ladie's t!ts.

This. One of the great guernsey's. Like Port and Freo - the V always ends up the best design.

As for the prison bars - the Queensland AFL guernsey rules. If anyone knows where I can get one..........

I wish we would get rid of the gold sleeves on the home guernsey. Looks far better if they are blue - like on the away strip.

And shrink the lion!!!
First of all, you can't. Our anthem has our colours as maroon blue and gold. Secondly, our home jersey is meant to represent all of our history. You remove the gold, and you remove the bears aspect of our our jersey. I do agree with shrinking the lion, but I have grown on the slightly bigger lion. Our biggest offender right now is the paddlepop lion somehow remaining as our logo. The sooner we change that, the better.

What colour is the lion?

Where is the blue on that silly bears jersey?
