As a west coast fan, I actually think Tabener is underrated. Injuries have impacted him but I actually like him as a player
Taberner has averaged 2.54 contested marks per game over the past three years, which is best in the league over that time period (Jeremy McGovern has averaged 2.47 per game by comparison). He's turned something that was somewhat of a weakness (averaged 1.27 contested marks per game in his first five years on the Dockers' list) into a clear strength. This could also have come naturally as he matured and grew physically, but still, good on him for that.
The trouble is, he's only played 26 of a possible 66 games from 2017-2019. Needs to get his body to a place where he can sustain it for a full season.
How different would the Dockers' fortunes and inside 50 entries have looked if Taberner, Hogan, Lobb, and Sandilands (allowing Lobb to play forward/back-up ruck, which is his best role) had each played 15+ games this year?!
