I don’t believe anything the club says anymore when they said Treacy was a test every week for the last 4 rounds of 2024 and ended up missing them all + Pearce who supposedly had a “small hotspot” in his shin and ended up being out for 3 months.

Doubly so with Darcy and his ever-growing extensive injury history. “Small calf strain” might as well mean he’s having his leg amputated.

Pearce had a minor call injury prior to Christmas and came back in great condition. The only difference with Peace and Darcy is we weren't told about Pearce as he had his recovery during the break.

My understanding of a draft snatch: A snatch would happen if they traded up and locked us out of selecting Mannagh.

Geelong made that trade early, and left the door wide open for us to choose between Simpson and Mannagh.

At best they forced us to choose.

Geelong made that trade early, and left the door wide open for us to choose between Simpson and Mannagh.

At best they forced us to choose.

I agree snatched is prob not the right word.

Freo traded up and were delighted to select Cooper Simpson. Can’t be buggered finding the article but Walls was rapt to be able to trade up to select Simpson and rated him much higher.

We were interested in Mannagh and had he been available at our next pick 40 which we were hopeful I’m sure he would have been selected. Geelong knew that to be the case and selected him.

Time to move on. We traded up to get Simpson knowing Mannagh was available.

Watched training yesterday and can confirm that Murray looks very handy. Also I reckon Scerri? will be signed based on what I saw. Lots of pace and willingness to use it. The caveat on that is I’m 90% sure the player was Scerri
The real news is that at a function after training Garlick casually mentioned that the club is looking at different ideas re the “sandy monstrosity “ on the other side of the ground. Nothing else said

All clubs are suffering soft tissue injuries. Massive overreaction re: calf strain for Darcy. In the past we have worked him too hard in the PS games. Let’s hope he is available for some mins in the final PS game - aside from that let big Cox ruck in all the other scratchy games.

We will get a better idea of Darcy’s injury over the next couple of weeks but reverting to he’ll be out for 3-4 months and we should have kept Meek is over the top.

Meek was scratching around being trialed at full back for Peel not long before requesting a trade. He also couldn’t take a mark when playing AFL. Good on him for work hard a taking his opportunity. At start of 2024 Hawks preferred Reeves and he changed the script.
