A wingman should IMO be getting minimum 20 disposals average a game and several goal assists and/or score involvements per game average. Otherwise they can jog on. They should also be one of the highest distance runners per game too. Heck if big Ramm is a unit in long distance get him going on the wing. So far, a lot of these blokes on the wing can't run for shit and don't have the footy smarts either. Mackinley covers the ground ok according to tracker which looks like a 55/45 split defence/forward and he's showed he goes back into defence to help, but he only got 9 disposals in that game..Only real positive for him until he learns to kick and be composed and take the game on as well as being a target and run on player too... Wehr hasn't done that so much as he seems to be on the wing but drifting more forward and less in defence to help out.. doesn't seem like he has the full footy smarts either regardless of getting more disposals. Burgoyne probably only one that does ok on wing but I'd much prefer him off half back and more importantly bulking the F up more and getting stronger...
Bergman is someone who should be playing wing but we clearly need him down back.

Berry needs to be dropped. Doesn't matter how good your preseason was if the coach is serious he needs to send a message. A guy that that couldn't crack into the Carlton side has just come in and gone straight past him
Two different players. Or supposed to be. Berry is supposed to be move up the ground more and Durdin is more a small forward who roams around there. Although Berry literally stayed primarily forward half that game which baffles me... maybe he needs to be thrown half back and learn from there to run and gun in transition from back half.. he's got the small forward smarts and crumbs extremely well but doesn't get involved.. that's on coaches too.

Again we go back to the fact Berry was drafted by the club to be a small forward.
Now that hasn’t worked out as planned so they have been playing him more up the ground.
They are trying to get him up to AFL standard and then use him as a small forward eventually.

Mackinlay is playing his 4th game and has been in the system for 6 months.
Wehr has played 41, but has been in the system for far far longer and is 27 years old.

Both are not up to it at this point in time, but if I were going to put time into developing one, it would be Mackinlay. Wehr is a complete dud.

Wehr just seems to be another Farrell if I'm being serious. Except Farrell is better albeit not by much lately.

Farrell's kicking isn't as great as it used to be, but he still pulls it off occasionally - still a weapon that most others don't have.

Wehr has no point of difference.

We have players that should be dropped, but no one playing better to replace them.

Maybe some injured players will return.

Why are Port's skills so poor?
Why do Port take the foot off the pedal after 1/4 time?
How do we turn this around with the current list as quickly as possible?
Ports skills are so poor because B and C graders have poor skills

Coaches can only do so much with plodders

If we were premiership contenders we could drop Berry, but we are miles off that. like it or not, he’s a young kid with potential and needs to stay in

The least of our problems

Carr mentioned Berry in particular in his presser. His inability to score from set shots or snaps is very concerning. And his turnovers are terrible.

Wines, Marshall and Bergman are obvious ins.

Zadow, Lorenz and Moraes would have to be close to it.

Mead, Brodie can drop out. Ratugolea if injured.

Wehr for Lorenz or Moraes.

A 19yo small forward in a side that got absolutely smashed. I think we have bigger problems

Berry sucks right now but has potential, we have plenty of players who suck right now and don't have potential to get rid of first. He wouldn't be near an AFL game in a top 8 side though.

I was very concerned with WCE constantly marking everything. They got to the front whereas our guys were always behind, including down the line situations.

Added to Lukosius not attacking the ball and playing safe, transition is an issue.

Perhaps Luko could play wing, where much of the time he wouldn't have to cope with the oppo trying to mark the ball as well. After all these years of avoidance I can't see him changing, but we need him to. No wonder he was sometimes dropped from his last team.

Moraes needs to build his body and speed, and apparently kicking, but I still prefer him taking Wehr's spot. At least we know he will get to where the ball is.

McKinlay and Mead are the types of players who are capable of just watching, running alongside, the oppo who has the ball. I saw Meady attack the ball and man strongly, once, and was surprised. I'm not sure he knows how to use his strength to advantage. Slow to recognise when he needs to act. Seems a nice kid, but how about a bit of aggressive behaviour Jackson?

Very pleasing to see Carr promise player attitude change. Hope he can follow through, and hope he is allowed to. None of this captain going to the boss saying they are being nasty to us players.

And Koch, if he can drag himself away from his own navel, should be blasting the bosses over blatant umpire corruption.

Anyway, Bergman in, and I'm comfortable with two rucks, just for the added marking power.

Bergmann, Marshall and Wines could make a difference if they are fit and if fit they will all be picked. Outside of those three there isn't too much in the SANFL.

I like the idea of Luko to the wing as I am not sure where he fits so we might as well try him on the wing. Wehr doesn't have any depth to his game. Wehr gets a bit of the ball often enough but he doesn't want to kick it more than 20 metres.
Luko on a wing or half back....but we insisted on handed him the keys to the forward line when courting him! Hopefully Carr just tells him to buck up and play where we need him, imagine the left/right combo of Luko and Farrel of half back!
And Marshal is a better forward but they're too same same to both play forward....suspect thats part of why Todd went back

Mead out for anyone is a no brainer. I've read some posters pasting Berry, Logan and Brodie but I think they all get longer....Berry will be fine and worth giving a run, Logan needs the confidence back from his first stint so hit can hit more targets or just reduce clangers! I rate him and would persist for a bit (he's 20 190cm and played 26 games). Brodie I'd be prepared to give a bit longer to see if he can find his spot, we kind of need his muscle for ground balls and contests and to give to the outside

Farrel is way better and 3 years younger, just needs to back his kicking in (like he did when he first came in) and look/go longer more often....he's too good to be chipping sideways.... even go long sideways and open it up, lift your eyes lad.

I would like to see us stop trying to plug list holes with B graders for a few years and either grab an A grader or go to the draft....even with our best 23 they would have to play out of their skins to be anywhere near it but there's just enough there 25 and under to be patient....

But to get the easiest start to the year I've even seen and be 1-2 is really disappointing.....

Joe Berry needs the Jasper Pittard treatment where we just back him week in week out no matter how many mistakes he makes.
