When Scott said Parish just needed some time to find form after injury kept him out and that he'd get better as the year went on I scoffed, but he may have been onto something there. Gotta back it up though.
My hand is up.

I said Parish should’ve been dropped. He proved me wrong.

But yes, must back it up

Should not leave our defensive group until we are an established unit capable of contending. Thats the time you give him a new challenge, but right now we need what he offers back there.
Looks to have been given the role of a defensive half midfielder with a licence to leave him man and proactively impact the play. It works because he finds the ball and the rest of the back half, wings and mids can cover for him. He can also push back hard and quickly himself.
If ive read that role correctly then Its a good move from the coaching staff.
Also it was a good move playing Wright back for a good part of the game too. He looks solid helping out back there.

I reckon Ridley is so important for our back 6. I reckon having that one extra player with great decision making and disposal provides a balance we haven’t had for a long time. Like the ‘sum is greater than its parts’.

Might need to walk back my criticism of the club for holding him to his contract.

Ahhhh nothing like a win to make me listen to and read every story about us over the next few days

Love that interview with Merrett. They made about 5 plans for different scenarios where he got tagged and what to do and even though he didn't end up being tagged they still implemented those strategies with some good success. So that looks like a blueprint now.

My interpretation; instead of trying to play through Merrett, they try not to play through him and then when he is off the chain it's the cream on top?

More importantly having a communicator helps. Watching live Ridley does a lot of talking and pointing. I saw one McKay intercept that I actually credit Ridley with. He told McKay to go there about five seconds before the ball was kicked there.

Yeah, agree with this assessment. He knows how far to push up to support the mids and when to get back. I wonder if playing him through midfield has been part of his education to understand what the mids will need from him when he's back there. He has the vision to set up from back there as well. Played a great game again this week.

Missed it live but the replay was a good watch. Kind of a weird game, but we clearly had their number for almost all of it.
His disposal was rusty, but having Ridley back in the side is much a bonus, just sucks he can never stay healthy.
Hopefully the last 6 qtrs have started to build a little bit of belief within the playing group and we can get some more wins against the bottom half of the ladder

I had to watch an 18$ game today.
It was great to see the players, the club and supporters rewarded during hard times.
Wish the Anzac game was this week.
