it's a hard read of how this will play out, a brave loss won't cut it...hope the trip away can help like the Adelaide game
Naughton/Lewis need the supply.....Buss has a big task on Georgiades

It really is time for him to stand up, regardless of whether he plays in his preferred position or not. He needs to work much much harder to do so than he has displayed previously.
We aren't exactly setting him up for success though. Yo-yoing in and out of Seniors only to play a different role at VFL level is not something a developing player needs. Either leaves him in the VFL until he proves himself up forward or give him mid minutes at AFL given thats the role he earned a promotion in.

I think you’re both right. Learning the one role at both levels would be the ideal, but like many young potential mids he will have to cut his teeth on a flank at AFL level and needs to own that role.

He had 17 in the seniors and got dropped . Can't possibly see how Gallagher is a better short or long term option. Have to disagree here .

Jaques has more potential, and maybe even a higher ceiling now, but is young and isn’t consistently hitting the mark. Gallagher has a few years on him and is a bit more versatile, two things that the coaches probably put a premium on at the moment with our outs.

Surely we'll go with Buku on Georgiades and Buss on Whitlock?

I’m not the biggest fan of the Hynes & Dolan yo-yo effect. It’s hard to develop any sort of consistency always looking over your shoulder trying to hold your spot.

Nonetheless, not too much to complain about.
Agreed. Once these types are exposed at AFL level they need big chunks below to build their game up again.
We need to be leaning on more experienced types like Baker (shouldn't have been dropped) and McNeil who don't really gain anything in VFL while the younger guys develop.

Good to have Budarick back and I think Baker is a plus.

Smith I would have left in over Emmett initially anyway, just for his aggression. I don't think him being in means English will ruck less, unless there is a significant strategic change which seems unlikely. I just think Smith can compete a bit harder than Emmett in the same role.

VDM with 5-7 week hammy. I'm putting a fork in him unfortunately.

Only leaves Libba, Lobb, Jod and Cody as definitive best 22 to come back in. Will be a good data point tonight to see how the team performs.

Gallagher is just much more tough/strong/harder around the ball than Jaques as well.

It's likely similar reasons as to why Davidson is out. These guys need more weight/strength badly.

Port's pressure a few weeks ago against Geelong was some of the best you will ever see. They are playing well, would be a real good win considering our last month if we get over the line.
Can guarantee that all the teams that looked shit early season will be playing well when we face them all 😭

I'm okay with that, beating Port (away) would be a good win and give the team a lot of confidence. We seem to have righted the ship last week against a very good Freo side, lets hope we continue that tonight.

There were the most logical and best fit changes we could make for this round. It will be interesting to see how English and Smith work. Perhaps English can spend more time as a forward option

Perhaps it's only a tentative poke rather than a full thrusted fork. He still has another 2 years under contract.

Also feeling a pretty comfortable win, but a loss would be good with Souki rocketing up the draft board.

Wouldn’t be the worst to win the Butters cup though.
What sort of mindset is this? We are 8 games into the season and sitting 4-4 having played a very tough run of games with a lot of injuries. We are still a a good thing to make finals if we get a decent run with injuries from here

Exactly. It looks like we need a high draft pick this year to secure him. Don't want to have to burn our first and second rounder.

Making finals is not worth it with the introduction of wild card. You either finish top 6, which means you can actually win a flag, or you finish bottom 5 and cash in with draft picks. Finishing 7-13 is worst case scenario. Its dumb, but that's the world we live in under this AFL administration.

Its pretty poor (and not unexpected) but they really have further incentivised tanking, how they can deny that is mind boggling.

It is easy to deny when you don't have the intelligence to understand cause and effect, or you are simply corrupt
