Scrag., my comments were general in nature, relating to the general subject. Had I intended it to be a response directed to you, I would have nominated you personally. No need to be so defensive mate.
As per usual AFL House %#(&$ everything it sticks it's fingers into. The expansion was pushed through way in advance of where the talent pool was ready for. Expansion should have been determined solely on the basis of the depth of talent that was available at the time...
It can be really helpful to be able to distinguish one player from another, even when you can't see their numbers. When they all look identical, it leaves you in limbo trying to identify one clone from all the others. Astro, Cody, Red Rich. etc are unmistakable even in a pack, or at a glance...
We certainly don't need just ever more 'arty farty' quick bits concentrating on players back slapping each other. Some serious 'meat' on what is actually happening, and less 'fairy floss' is what is needed.
What in hell is with so many posters on here apparently wanting all players to look like US army recruit rejects ? Individuality over more follow the crowd mentality any day thanks.
We seem to have the most well balanced list as a whole, in a very long time. I cannot see that Bevo any longer has any excuse what so ever, for picking 'unbalanced ' lineups. We have sufficient depth in all 3 zones to be able to replace like for like, and not replace KP players with flankers, or...
Re "fairness", don't judge the system by a hand full of years. That is a sample bias. Akin to rolling a dice say ten times, and the number '3' happens to come up 4 times. Doesn't make dice an unfair or uneven system. Keep rolling, and in the end the law of averages says all numbers come up close...
Will people please stop referring to the 'witches hats' set by the umps as "manning the mark". They are not. Under the current rule, for the time between the umps calling "stand" until they call "play on", the sides are set with one having 18 active players on the field, while the other has 17...
Because of the idiotic 'stand' rule, a player glued to the mark is totally removed from any chance what so ever to influence the play, and the opponent with the ball is given total freedom to do what he likes, until the umpire gets around to calling play on. The man on the mark is reduced to...
My thought/observation re Tim isn't that he is timid as some have suggested. Two things to remember, he began rucking at the elite level as a seriously skinny kid physically, way behind those he was opposing [and developing a mature ruck body takes time], and secondly he was pretty new to the...
Perhaps a learning/training experience, finding out how the 'other half' work and think. Make them both better at their 'own' roles, and perhaps a bit more adaptable for alternate roles if needed, Bevo seems to look for that flexibility with his players.
Standing 'on' the mark, rather than behind it will only help if the umps call play-on as soon as the ball carrier moves off his line. If they continue to allow him 4-5 strides before permitting the marker to flinch without being penalized, by the time he reacts, the carrier will likely have...
Every time the AFL pokes their nose into the game [rules etc.], they f#ck up mightily. They then have to add a new rule, or layer of complexity to 'fix' the problem/s they themselves just created. Then they have to try and fix that mess, and so it seems to go on ad infinitum. Virtually every...
Agree re Porter KH, his performances have been on a steady growth curve. In a squad with fewer gun inside mids, he'd be a lot closer to a senior debut. Pity he isn't a couple of inches taller though. The kid has some real grunt to his game.
Most years one or two players take their game to another level. There has been plenty of hype on that front re young T English. I hope it pans out that way too. But I can't help thinking, that given the obvious young and developing talent we have...
I largely agree 3B's. particularly re Wal. He is the general that makes the forward 1/2 work. With his natural leadership, and the fact he sets up, and or is a part of most scoring chains. He can virtually always be relied on to contribute 1 or more goals personally, and be involved in many of...
"Need a barber" ???? what, in-lue of the shearer that many of the Dogs are using at present. Viva those not willing to be caught by herd fashion, and retain some individuality.

For starters CB if you saw his u/18 GF, his side was in trouble in the first half, till he was moved forward, where he won the GF off his own boot. In a final season game at VFL a few years back he went forward late, and kicked a clutch bomb after the siren to get us into the finals...
Sadly DW they went from a situation where the clubs had to much power over the players, to the exact opposite, when what the competition needed was to find an equitable middle ground. So they resolved one problem, by creating another one. As usual the Commission is so enraptured with...
{(%# the AFLPA, they currently are all about themselves, and to hell with the competition, the supporters, the clubs [particularly the smaller ones], or fairness/equity. If we can't simply get rid of FA altogether, then how about it is ONLY applicable, if the player moves to a club below his on...
Nothing personal here Ash, but for Pete's sake will somebody define "best available", clearly and fully. Is it simply most raw talented, best performed at the U/18 level statistically, or what ? Does it take into account potential for development, personality, attitude etc., etc., etc. ...
So it is ok to lose a quality player, and get absolutely nothing in return ? If we are to continue with this crap, let the League independently place a valuation on the player, and then have the club taking him pay it. IE if the player is rated as equal to a first rounder in the draft, then the...
Nah Dogman his biggest problem, was we persisted in trying to make him a key backman. We did this out of our needs, rather than his skill set. Had we displayed the same pig headedness in using him as a forward, I can't help thinking his story may have been significantly different.
