Sadly it looks like it could be the end of the road.
He actually played with a bit more aggression in that Swans game which is what we needed to see but it seems it may be all for nothing. :(

Doesn't sound good. If it's the end, hopefully he gets looked after by club or/and AFL, post football. Would be confronting enough dealing with these issues, but having to re-plan your immediate future due to this would also be daunting.

These things always make me really reflect on a young AFL players path. The desire, commitment, dedication, travel, judgment, lobbying, family and all the other factors that have to align just to get a shot at it, and for it to be so easily taken away in ones yoing career by concussion is just so cruel...

I'm hoping Nik beats it, I like many was so excited when he burst on the scene with his talent but I don't like the signs tbh and would rather he be healthy in life.

Departed that land a long time for that very reason.
Thankfully I never even got on the social media train. Furthest I went was Facebook.

Concussion symptoms make the above impossible. His issue will be headaches/dizziness during high intensity workouts mostly. Its always been the long term problem too. You are fine until pressure on your body hits and then you fall into a hap somewhat

Brad Sheppherd for example only works 4 hours a day because his body cant handle any more then that and his job was as a Salesman so not like it was a physical job either.

Right now id expect Cox to be doing nothing at all physical apart from very light training. He will likely come back very unprepared for AFL football and would be a rebuild from here somewhat. AFL somewhat have different rules with concussion since the Daniel Venables case. If accepted by the AFL you are allowed to keep Nik Cox as a player not he main list. He stays with the team as a inactive player for 12 months for example as he continues his rehab. Its a chance you would simply make him a inactive player for 2026, have him use the club facilities and then prepare for 2027 as a example

I agree - it was before he returned to contact anything that I posted the above. What should have happened is once the headaches had stopped, (Which I thought they had), then he could do the above. Obviously though that was not possible in this case.

Cox’s big problem in his AFL career has essentially been that he’s a stick compared to all other key position players, so the above was meant to remedy that (like Thilthorpe).

Thank you for the insight though (I am being sincere in case it doesn’t come through). 👍

Poor guy, can’t imagine what young AFL players go through when they get delisted or have their futures altered dramatically. if this is the end for Nik hopefully our club / coterie / benefactors can help him find his feet early and get some purpose. If it’s not the end, hopefully it’s the end of the issues.

If it is the end he's young enough and smart enough to establish a career in something else, whether that's going to uni or getting a trade or something else (car salesman? realtor? 🤷‍♀️ ).

I'm pretty sure his sister is an international model so he comes from a family that has some idea about short-term and long-term careers, iirc from when he was drafted they're pretty close knit and will get around him.

Still sucks though. Never really found a position at AFL level to make his own, would've at least liked him to get that far.
