$1m worth of silver bars has been stolen from a truck travelling between Sydney and Melbourne. Whilst no “bail up” it does bring back mental images of the bushranger days. Brazen. Police investigating.

 
Not so 'brazen' if it was an inside job... which is likely.
Not jumping to conclusions but certainly something that will be investigated.

True Detective Season 1: This was an elaborate inside job going all the way to the top to pay for retirement benefits for the employees they no longer had

True Detective Season 2: The drivers didn't tie it down correctly and it literally fell out the back of the truck in transit and they are saying it was stolen because it's better than everyone finding out they weren't competent.

I'm going for Option 2. I used to work for a nationwide road transport company decades ago and I've heard a lot of stories.

Police have released new CCTV footage in an effort to recover more than $1million worth of silver bullion stolen in a mystery heist.
A consignment of silver worth more than $1million was allegedly stolen from a truck travelling from Sydney to Melbourne, police have now released CCTV footage of a vehicle of interest which is a dark-coloured Toyota LandCruiser (pictured) driving along Argyle St, Picton at 12:20am on November 28

CCTV released of Toyota ute in million-dollar heist investigation
The theft wasn't discovered until the truck reached its destination in Melbourne.
