Pick 6 Rioli is the man
Pick 23 Ward lock them in

Virtually no chance Rioli will be coming to Essendon

Big chance of Ward IF he is still left and would be a great pick up but there is strong interest in him from other clubs, and 1 that picks before us.

We will get 2 quality players this draft and D.D who looks promising to say the least.

We will not go tall Dodoro said specifically we will go with a MIDFIELDER for our first pick you fruitloop! Thank **** that means no McEvoy!:thumbsu:

Fruitloop!..........Ouch! That hurts!

You have probably seen as much of McEvoy as I have. 1 game.
Good judges say he will be a very good player, I'll back them in. Other good judges said that Ryder will be a good player but I thought he was a dud in his first season and I was proven wrong.
I would rather value the opinion of ''experts'' than naive supporters, like myself, who often can't see past the present product.

Don't take him seriously, he thinks Myers is a dud.

Don't start that again:(

Anyone who thinks Myers is a dud should get their bloody head out of the sand.

I'm happy with anyone to be honest, McEvoy would be great as well.

I'm not worried about #6 by any means.

I'm even more excited about #23.

Think about the options...

We could get Selwood, Maric, Dangerfield, Pears, Bellchambers, Rioli, Ward Vezpremi, Gourdis, McGinnity or Kangars:thumbsu:

WIN-WIN:thumbsu:

I think he'll go to WC considering his ties with the club and they rate him highly.

The other thing is that it seems clear they want pure midfielders, which pretty much limits the field to Masten and Palmer given that it's extremely unlikely that they'd overlook one of them for a non-WA kid. Masten seems the far more likely option of their pair, but they could turn that on it's head.

The possibility where Masten could end up with us is that Richmond take Morton, leaving West Coast to take Cotchin. In that case, Melbourne shape to take Rhys Palmer and that would allow Masten through to us. It's unlikely and, to tell you the truth, I'm not convinced we'd take him anyway.

I thought the same thing originally but there's a fair bit of Demon interest in Palmer, more so than Masten I'd suggest.

yes. I think Palmer would fit into Melbourne's (not demons :p) line up better than Masten... Although it's an unlikely scenario Essendon getting Masten anything can happen.

I've been just snooping around Richmond, West Coast, Melbourne and Western Bulldog boards...

Richmond

They are split over Cotchin and Morton. If you put a figure on it 55% Cotchin and 45% Morton.

West Coast

They are just dead set on Masten.

Melbourne

They just want Morton and worried about Richmond picking him at 2. No interest in Masten, resonable interest in "our man" Palmer. Myers is also in their radar. As such if Morton is not available they want Palmer or Myers.

Western Bulldogs

Very keen on McEvoy and Henderson. They are hoping Grant will be available with their second round pick, they don't want him with their first. They are worried Melbourne will pick up McEvoy at 4.

My Conclusion

It is all up to Richmond. If they go for Cotchin, then Morton will slip to 4th and Melbourne will be happy. But if Richmond were to pick up Morton at 2, then I can't see the Eagles passing on Cotchin. Hence Melbourne will go for Palmer.

I know what's in the boards are not what's going to happen on the day. But that just gives you an idea of what they require or want as a club.

Palmer and Myers, I can't see them both being not available at 6. If Masten goes pass the eagles, then he will be available at 6. Ebert will be avaible for sure.

I know few of you are keen on Myers, but I am dead set hoping for Palmer. I will be dissapointed if we miss out on him. If we over look him, I'll be more than dissapointed.

Very nervous...can't wait for the big day.

Ps - I am at breaking point after reading the Herald Sun about McEvoy being link to us.

Cool it dude. Cant see us taking him, either David Myers or Rhys Palmer, we need midfielders and our recuirters arent stupid enuf to go for a ruck with our first round pick

I have seen him more than once. He is not what we need. Have a look at our list..and are we really craving for a tall? No we friken are not! We have too many talls as it is! I'd rather take my chances with Palmer/Ebert!:thumbsu:

As speculated in todays West Australian,

RICHMOND - Crotchin
EAGLES - Masten
MELBOURNE - Morton
BULLDOGS - Grant
ESSENDON - Myers
FREO - Palmer
BRISBANE - Henderson
SAINTS - McEvoy
ADELAIDE - Ebert

I Think it play out very close to this,

I believe that the first 3 picks are locked in and have been for a week.

There is no way Richmond will overlook Cotchin, it won't happen.

However i believe Morton is a possibility to slide to us IF we wanted him.

I think Melbourne will take him and he would really suit them, but they might choose Palmer.

If so, it will be interesting to see if we choose Morton.

is hislop going to be a ruck rover or play in the centre? if hislop is going to be a ruck rover, then Palmer, if not, then Ebert.

Thats a extremely strange statement. I'd like to know what you believe is a centre and what a ruck rover is?

On Morton sliding to us, I have on a good authority it will not happen due to the bulldogs rating him #1. If he was to be available to them then they will snap him up. It seems it will be between Myers and Palmer for Essendon and possibly Ebert could be included. If Palmer was to go early then expected, to West Coast for an example then we may jump all over Masten if he slides down. We are seemingly in a win/win sitaution.
