Re: Daft Picks 10, 24, 26 & 33

Hey it is not the only reason!
Yes but it should not be a reason at all to determine whether or not you want your club to draft someone or not.

It clearly is for you, and I know you get a kick out of winding people up over it, but stop. It has no place on these forums. It is irrelevant to football discussion.

My actual phantom draft was not based on "good looking", rather I went with the best players. Some may not agree but I still feel Christensen is the player we should draft at 10, and that has nothing to do with looks.

No your phantom draft was based on you tude footage and what you have read about players.

Maybe one day you will admitt that you do not actually "see" all these players you say you do.

Re: Daft Picks 10, 24, 26 & 33

Nope, my draft was done having seen a fair few games this year. Yes some of the players slid becuase I had not seen them that much (Rohan comes to mind) but I did base my draft off what I have seen (for the top 20 or so), after that I went on needs.

Re: Draft Picks 10, 24, 26 & 33

I think my ideal Draft based on footage and what ive read is:
10 Lucas
24 Christensen
26 Callum Bartlett/Nathan Vardy
33 Max Gawn/Another available mid

Probs dont want two injured players hence Vardy or another mid option. I liked the look of Gawn in the footage very mobile for 206 and could take a mark. Had a bit of an odd drop of the footy but hit a few targets. Bartlett i only am mentioning based on people stating he would have been first rounder/top ten prior to being injured and i think we have a lot of depth and can afford to take a risk on later pick for a potential star. Ant mentioned we will only get an average mid not a star so i think taking a risk would be worth it. For this draft to happen would have to be a few sliders so im being a very hopeful.

So you: used youtube, the state player footage website, and watched a few championship games on Fox Sports? OK great, no problems. You've seen more than I have.

Just don't try to promote yourself as somebody with any sort of knowledge about drafting. Not one person on this board rates your opinion, so quit wasting everybody's time.

So basically, your draft is an uninformed load of horse shite.:)

Nope, just some of the players I have not seen and I am going off heeresay in terms of those players, I have not seen Rohan play basically at all, so he is one who went late 1st round in my draft as I have not seen him play.

No, it's a load of horseshit, because you've made an order without knowing anything about Rohan who's a genuine top 10 chance.

That and the fact that you know jack shit about football.

Re: Draft Picks 10, 24, 26 & 33

Why don't you ppl put him on your ignore list? much more blissfull.

back on topic I want:
10. Lucas/Tapscott/Stevens
24. Christenson/Crichton
26. Crichton/Sheppard/Duncan
33. MacDonald/Hooper/Menzel

after Ant555's analysis

Re: Draft Picks 10, 24, 26 & 33

May I make one small comment Ant555 on your draft profiles? Scott Lycett is eligible for next years draft (2010), quite disappointed in his Champs form this year, built up to be a very good, first round ruckman.

Also on essendon's drafting from an outside perspective, I think you could use a prospect like Vardy in the Ruck, as you seem to lack depth in that area.

Also whilst I am here you should be able to have a successful draft with the picks you have got, you really got a good deal for Mark Williams etc.

We have depth, but most of them were injured, we have (in order):
Hille
Ryder
Laycock
T-Bell
Bock

Thanks for the good views mate always refreshing to have an outsider give provide some knowledge to the board.

At first i felt we didnt need a ruck with Hille Ryder Laycock and Belly however now i have serious question marks on Laycock and doing a knee wont help Hille whos getting on. I would Happily take Gawn or Vardy with 33 :D doubt they will be there that late tho. What you think?

I also wouldnt mind rooking a prospect or a mature aged ruckman if we dont get one in the draft.

Well when you have over 200 profiles and you are doing the whole list a few minor mistakes will slip through when you are cutting and pasting from the complete list of both bottom and top age players.
I did not realise i was getting marked for giving a free service :p

I actually thought that we needed to draft another mature back up ruckman. The problem was not with our depth , it was with injury. Drafting another 18 year old ruckman will not help us now. We started the year with Hille , Laycock , Ryder , Bellchambers and Bock.
Now obviously Laycock is a big concern as he is always injured so has never been able to reach the potential he has. Bellchambers is only 20 but has shown a bit so far but he still needs a couple of years and Bock is an under weight rookie.
They may look at drafting a ruckman to replace Laycock as i have major doubts he will ever be the answer but really we need a ruckman that can play now more so we are covered.
Lets face it if Laycock some how does a pheonix job and rises from the ashes and Hille is ok then our first three ruckman will be aged between 22 and 28. Not like they are over the hill.

Re: Draft Picks 10, 24, 26 & 33

I would find it quite humorous if Bomberno1 actually did go and watch games

It would be highly unlikely given that she lives in a state that does not host any more than 2 champ games and has no high level under 18 footy to see week in and week out.

Add that to the fact that she got caught in a lie last year about seeing champ games.

Bull shit. Are you saying yo travel from Sydney evey week end to watch games in Victoria , WA and SA ?
And dont stuff me around becasue i can (and have) looked up what days you post and being a mod i can see what IP adress is used and what local area that adress is generated from.

The best you can do is say you purchased DVD's of the games whcih for the SA boys is easy to do becasue there is an outlet that you can purchase all senior , reserves and colts games for $28.00.
The WAFL is not so easy but it can be done and you can purchase TAC Cup games but it is not advertised anywhere and most copies are done 15 minutes after the games.

So stop stuffing everyone around. I know there has been weekends where you claim to have seen games yet you have also posted from home on the same weekend.
I do not doubt that you have been back to WA a few times and seen some colts footy but even if you went back 5 times during the season you are limited in how much you can actually physically get to.
Give it up and admit you have built your knowledge from reading and meida vision and not watchng live matches.
It is clear you know a lot more of the players than most so why the BS parade ?

Makes it a touch difficult to moderate properly if eveyne is on ignore :D

I get the impression that Bock is skilled and it's just his weight that's holding him back. Is this true or does he also need work on his skills to make it in the AFL?
