How have we been looked after? We play West Coast, Collingwood, Geelong & Sydney twice.

We have as many interstate trips in the first five rounds as what you have in 23 rounds.

Hawks have a fantastic draw next season, i don't know why you need to get all defensive about it, just be happy that the AFL has looked after you in a big way.

Re: Clubs fixtures from worst to best according to The Age

teams form change rapidly at the start to end of a season, but one thing that won't change is that collingwood have to travel the least with one of the fewest 6 day breaks of any one else. expect them to finish top 2 again...

Genius. Another contender for the "Find out what Collingwood get and then pretend that's what really makes a soft draw" Award.

We don't have the fewest away interstate games, and our number of six day breaks is the same or within 1 of the majority of all teams. Apprently this means that we can discount the fact that we play all the leading contenders twice and instead it means we are a shoo-in for the top 2!

Here's a tip for all the idiots out there, Collingwood play an amazing 13 games on Saturday!

Now I have no idea if that's the most in the comp or not, or how it will actually benefit us, but it seems like a high number to me. Therefore it is undoubtably an attempt by the AFL to ensure we finish on top again.

Ok I think I you owe you an apology for jumpng the gun

It's still a mighty tough draw without those points. The Top 4 from last year have the hardest draws by a fair bit.

Maybe the draw was fixtured that way in response to so many beltings last season, no wants to see 100 point floggins nearly every week, i think this is one of the better draws in recent history

so your going to perth? has bucks sent someone over to figue out how perth has changed in the last decade, you have historically had easy draws... i mean seriously, how many teams above you do you have to play huh? huh? :D

The non-serious part: we actually play 100% of the teams that finished above us twice. Only Hawthorn can say the same. :D

except you cant "discount" them, they still have to travel. they play 8 games out of victoria, so it definitely evens out.

The serious part: of course you can discount them. They are Hawthorn home games played exactly where Hawthorn requested them to be played. They should have no bearing on where their away games are fixtured.

At best it was very disengenuous of the AFL to claim that all teams would travel at least 5 times.

would be very dissapointed in anything less than a 3-0 start for the Bombers.

Not sure why everyone is going on about a gift of a draw for Hawthorn

We play the other six members of the top 7, excluding our bunnies (Carlton) in the first 6 rounds and have two games against every member of the top 4.

In terms of travel, we play all interstate finalists from last year away.

I just don't get it. Sure, a few years ago, less travel was a big win. Nowadays, all the easy-beats are interstate teams.

People are acting as though travelling to play the wooden spooners (or Brisbane/GWS/Adelaide) instead of playing a bruising encounter with the reigning premiers (or Collingwood) would make our draw harder

the first part was a stab, saying that you rarely go to perth, and lets be honest when you do, you come back to an "easy" game or its in the split round, the second part was a joke. admittedly not a funny one

It's this kind of lazy bulls**t that really annoys me.

This is the breakdown of the last 7 times we've gone to Perth (yes we have travelled there 7 times):

4 times - played Geelong next week (easy games, huh)
1 time - knockout final in Adelaide next week (wierd, people usually complain about travelling in the last round)
1 time - Port (finished 9th that year, average to easy game)
1 time - Rich (easy game)

We have never had a bye after playing in Perth.

Why do the Blues play the Demons at the MCG as a home game, and the Saints at Etihad. Surely the venues should be swapped to at least give some semblance of a home ground advantage.

Quite odds the Blues home games are played at venues that are the predominant home ground of their opposition....

Why do Geelong only play 9 games against top 8 sides?

In 2011, they only played 10 against the top 8 sides from the previous year.

It's bullshit that teams who played GC only once last year don't get to play GWS twice this year.

They're 99% guaranteed wins. And i have no doubt some clubs who played the Suns twice last year have GWS twice this year. That simply isn't fair whatsoever.

Has any club drawn GC twice last year and GWS twice this year?

And Carlton v Geelong at Etihad again. And it's a friday night...why not just give us the G and bum off a boring match to Etihad..

FFS when will they learn. Took them 4 years to get us and the Hawks at the G...

Out travels outside vic-tas balance out with ANYONE over the years

What years are you talking about? You have exactly the same number of away interstate games over the last ten seasons (2003-2012) as Collingwood. Yet all I hear (quite often from Hawthorn fans as well) is that Collingwood never travel and that we're looked after by the AFL.
