No Garlett is a surprise.

Her info on where guys are going comes mostly from teams saying what they think others are doing, the kids themselves, the managers and wrt to the Victorians the schools. I don't think she gets really solid info from inside teams.

I think if its nearing the end of the first round, and he is still up on the board, it'll be open slather for the first team to nab him. No way talent like that will drift deep into 2nd or 3rd rounds.

I certainly wouldn't be upset if Brisbane took him with 33 (if by the extraordinarily slim chance he fell that low)

Great write-ups on all the players in Quigley's mock. He had some interesting things to say about Paparone, listing some real positives and mostly just a horrible kicking action as being his one real negative.

I am curious if it would be overs if the club paid 33 for him? He's a nice height and size, athletic, a real appetite for the game (from what Quigs noted) and sounds like he has potential.

Also, continuing on from reading Quigley's and some of the other phantom drafts, I'm wondering what the peoples' consensus is on the likely kids to drop through to the rookie draft, and if so, whom could potentially make a good rookie draft smokey?

McIntosh, Bourke, Haynes, Appleton, Gribble, Corr and Close all caught my eye.

By Gribble, I'm assuming you mean Sam Gribble who isn't available till next year.

Dale Gribble?

The new rookie rules say we're only allowed 4 rookies. Not sure what they stipulate in terms of QLD zone rookies (which Michael could fall under, potentially Wrigley too) but I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't pick up any rookies this year.

If this is right, then we have three spots on our rookie list for international players, Irish players and zone selections. Assuming Michael is a QLD zone selection, Newell the NSW scholarship spot then we have one more spot (Wrigley was a normal rookie selection wasn't he?).

Actually we're allowed 6 rookies. However I think as we have black and brown as vets outside this takes up 2 spots?

Josh Simpson

AFL clubs are queuing up to re-interview one of the nation's top draft prospects after learning he is a father.

He is expected to be taken between pick No.5 and No.20 on Thursday night.

It is believed he is looming large for Port Adelaide (No.7), Gold Coast (13), Geelong (16) and Fremantle (17).

Quigley what are your thoughts on Marco Paparone and what player do you see him becoming?

I think Paparone also drops a little because of positional uncertainty. He does not really have the body shape to be a key position and his skills are not what you would want to see from a flanker/wing. I see him ending up as a running flanker type probably off half back where he can make best use of his run and mark. It is often easiest to disguise some skill issues with lots of guys moving forward that he could give it off to. If he could fix up his skills he could be a really nice Birchall / Gilbert type in fact Gilbert might be a good comparison because Gilbert's kicking at different times of his career has been terrible nws that it looks a lot better than Paparone's.

Aren't many 190cm KPF in the AFL, so I think those types playing key forward u18's will always slide a bit because you just don't know where they can play the next level up, not unless they are something special.
