I'd consider throwing Williams name around at the expense of Papertalk to be pretty reactionary, especially after half a season. Averaging 1.8 goals a game at Colts level and being a genuine line breaker got Papertalk drafted, we wouldn't want to do another Lewis Jetta?

If Williams didn't crack a game with Collingwood prematurely then we wouldn't hear of it. The club will have benchmarks for Papertalk to hit, work on his weaknesses. Better than him free wheeling and racking up stats.

How many people around BF have seen Papertalk play for Easts this season, btw?
I wanted us to draft Lewis Jetta -_-. In 2008 as well. I was mad......

I am also with Swannies on this, Nelson is whom I wanted.

Nelson was BOG on the weekend , so he will get drafted but probably ND , end of second or third round ( #35 - 50 ) maybe !

I have seen Papertalk play this season , has some speed and skill but a lot to learn .

Good that Dick gets a rest this week , gives him time to recover .

Where did I say WC should've taken Williams over Papertalk post draft? I simply asked the question: "why did West Coast choose Callum Papertalk over Marley Williams?" More is being read into what I've said than what's actually there.
Why ask the question if not to infer that WC should've taken Williams over Papertalk?

Why ask the question if not to infer that WC should've taken Williams over Papertalk?

I asked because some have stated pre-draft that Williams is someone WC should pick. WC had the opportunity, but chose Papertalk, who went a few picks later, instead. The Sunday Times reviews is what brought the thought to mind. They have been less than favourable in regards to Papertalk's games.

If anything has been inferred, it's been as to what I've commented on.

Enormous mark by Mcinnes just now. Flew high over his opponent, took the clean grab and hit the ground running. If that's a glimpse of things to come then bring it on.

The landing and dish off was nearly as impressive as the mark.

Swift hasn't done anything since getting 14 touches..
Actually, his inside work was pretty good, it was when he got into space that he had a few issues. BUT, I was too busy yelling abuse, digging holes in the ground, buying icecream or coffee and dreaming about a Bilby's burger to really be listened to.

Need to give Papertalk one more year at least. He needs another full pre-season and a year in the League and see how he goes from there.

We need to make cuts to the rookie list at years end and we should also have at least one active pick in the rookie draft.

SUNDAY TIMES " REVIEW "

A Selwood - K 18 H 16 M 4 - Eleven touch third term capped dominant game .
R Neates - K 10 H 5 M 6 - Solid outing without getting much on the scoreboard .
L Stevenson - K 12 H 4 M 7 - Good in defence that saw little action .
G Weedon - K 11 H 3 M 5 - Finding some form in defensive role .
J McGovern - K 5 H 6 M 4 - Solid back-up to Andrew Ruck in the ruck .
T Swift - K 11 H 10 M 2 - Another strong midfield display .
F McIness - K 10 H 8 M 8 Gls 1 - Provided a strong target up forward .
A Smith - K 15 H 9 M 4 - A strong display in defence .

Tunbridge 17 D 4.1 Gls - In Perth reserves , Perth winning by 140 points . No wonder the Dockers want to move away from SF oval to Cockburn !
Hamp kicked 2.1 Gls in Claremont reserves but his cards seemed to be marked now after a three game stint in the league .

If Dick is fit he will probably get elevated (cue jokes). Hamp is gone. Tunbridge, Mascoulis and Papertalk are all in the same boat: haven't done much will be kept around 1 more year. McGovern has done ok but seems a bit short for an AFL KPP. I wouldn't blink twice if he was given the flick.

whilst the cuts are needed my understanding was that papertalk was scouted in the country and encouraged to try out in perth, so surely will be given time to adjust to city living and professional training .If AFL teams draft outside the prescribed areas they should be prepared to actually have patience and develop players .

Papertalk flashed his athletic ability in the preseason but showed little to no defensive ability. Obviously they are trying to develop this side of his game. I think he has even played at Fullback so I wouldn't be paying too much attention to his stats.

yay, someone who actually knows what player development is :hearts:
