I wouldnt be *happy* with that, as Im big on border control for under-contract young players, but it isnt a horrible deal on it's merits. Basically costs us 12 months development on a very good player.
interesting discussion

please take into account the fact that dyson wont want to come to the buldogs, he wants to come to richmond

you cant trade for a player that doesnt want to come.

so it may well be 5+6 for Martin and a second rounder from GWS. Thats why pick 9 is in play. Its in play because you want it from us

we're not giving away 5 and 6 for Martin we've said all along that we're not going to. why people get worked up about that is beyond me.
couple of trade shaftings in the past have unsettled people.

How do you know? we can make a pitch to Tyson. Also we do not have to give up picks 5 and 6 for md1, pick 6 could be sufficient, richmond's pick 9 is useless and irrelevant to the deal.

Why should we get involved in your deal when in all likelihood, 6 and a fringe player will get the deal done for Martin? Face it, you want a talent like Dom Tyson you will have to pay up

Because you're not willing to give up two first round draft picks for Jack Martin and a 'fringe' player.

That's why.

Oh and also, they want 5+6, not 6 and a dud bulldog.

*Tyson

Where has he said he doesn't want to come to the Bulldogs BTW, he has just said he wants to come back to Melbourne I thought. Either way, if the Tiges want him, he will cost more than pick 9 I am pretty sure, not sure why we should pick up the slack in the trade, that has been bandied around the media anyway...

Regarding MD trades, much will depend on the F/S bidding.

If GC bids on Viney, then our position is further strengthened in relation to either pick, as we will effectively have picks 4 and 5.

Exactly. Giving 5 and 6 for one player who is risky is possibly one of the most stupid things I've heard. To you CNB, you're a flog, and my only suggestion is to stay off the gear.

Jordan McMahon for pick 19.....classic.

Would love to see the article where Tyson nominated Richmond his club of choice, or where he said he didn't want to come to the dogs.

Plenty of salary cap room in the medical dept at Richmond.
Chaplin? Knights?Last 30 years you'd think they'd develop some sort of Lid.

Will take place at 10:00am Monday - we have to wait all weekend sadly.
Oh, I thought they had to lodge their bids today? Or is that process silent and we only find out the outcome of whether teams matched the bidding on Monday? Yay for transparency...

Thanks Mutt. Was hoping we would get some relief from all the 'all your pick 6 will be outbid omgwtf' nonsense coming through here recently...

The initial bidding was today though. Clubs have until then to match. Why would that info be withheld until then?
The way I now understand it is:

today - clubs nominate the players they will consider taking as a father/son (ie. we nominate Hunter)

Monday - at 10:00 a meeting is held where clubs bid for the players who have been nominated today. At this meeting we have to decide whether to take Hunter and we will find out whether Melbourne will be asked to use pick 3 on Viney.

Enough of this MD nonsense. Fact is that pick 6 alone is likely the BEST offer GWS will get for MD1 so that'll get the deal done. Remember, it's an auction and highest bidder wins!
