Yeah that's how I'd describe his game too, I was more curious about where BM123 heard he was an average kick. Gotta be careful about who you get your info from at this time of year.
Yeah no doubt. "Someone heard from someone who quoted someones story differently", is usually what happens.

Fair enough. I'm just sort of fanatically obsessed with us drafting mids who are a decent size with pace ( Freeman) or have good quality extractors with a bit of size to them.

Bell isn't fast, or slow for that matter, however he does have a strong acceleration on the pick up. I don't think it's his decision making that's the problem, he seems to have the right idea, it's just his disposal is let down when trying to hit a target 50m away. Over the preseason he will develop the ability to hit targets over a long distance, as well as his endurance.

Also, the point about his awareness. Personally, I just think that will come down to more AFL experience. Coming from Morningside in QLD is a completely different game to just the VFL in Victoria. The ball movement and style of the game is much quicker. Something that he will have to adjust to, whereas a Menzel or Graham will not. Wait until he gets a full season of AFL exposure under his belt. We really cant be to impatient with these players.

Josh Kennedy took years before he finally came good. Could see something similar happening with Bell.
Kennedy is a dyed in the wool footballer with his footy in his blood. Would have played it as kid like other sons of guns.

Please.

Dayne Beams, Armitage and other AFL players came from Queensland.

You reguarlarly criticise Robinson whilst hoping Bell will pick up his game with more time.

Lots of work needed if Bell is to improve his awareness.

They've also played alot more games then Bell.

And I don't regularly criticize Robinson.

Both of these guys were picked in the top 25, yet Bell was a rookie selection.
Bell needs more work, but I think he could become a decent player.
He'll never be elite, but think he could be a pretty solid contributor with his clearance work, big body and massive tank.

Have to agree with HBF here. Has all the physical attributes to be a good footballer but he lacks footballing nous and has poor spatial awareness (finds space but fails to judge how much time he actually has). I'd get him playing basket ball all off-season since Bell's ability to work in traffic has to be improved if he wants to be a quality inside mid. Fair bit to work with though.

Not sure their situations are strictly analogous. Kennedy was a good footballer (who the Hawks would have preferred to have retained) who got to Sydney and was told he wasn't fit enough. The rest is history. Bell's development needs are rather more fundamental.

We have a huge shopping list and we really need to make the right choices, we are a very mediocre team but that's what happens when you constantly recruit outside, soft player's. We are paying a heavy price now and it seems we will never learn, need to make hard decisions and start trading and dealing accordingly.

Probably a pipe dream - but golly gee gosh it would be peaches and cream if we could somehow get Tom Boyd to the club. Looks the part, and bleeds Blue.

True. He is better then our other option though.

what are peoples thoughts on Zak Jones?
"He's tough, runs straight, competes, and would eat a footy. He's a little bit mad, so we give him very simple instructions about his role and we let him go." sounds like a Robinson clone.
