NATHAN FREEMAN! in the top 5 for 20m sprints, and also the beep test.

Burst speed, elite endurance, and plays like a raging bull! and has elite disposal.. Hes the midfielder we've been crying out for! #dangerfieldV2.0

Now lets just hope he makes it to the same part of the draft that Dangers did :)

Might sound stupid. But Pick 12 + Duigan for Pick 9 from GWS. Wouldn't affect them to much and gives them solid leadership. Worth a thought.
except we had a good source post here that Duigs will stay at Carlton.

I like the idea though.
maybe substitute Laidler instead of Duigan?

Hope Lennon tanked the interviews at draft camp...

Disclosure :) : I know very little of this years draftees

We have #13 as it currently stands and currently the names that are beyond our reach at that pick are:
Boyd, Aish, Billings, Kelly, McDonald (Likely F/S) and Scharenberg. That should take care of 6 players we won't see.

The next batch of mids seem to be:
Lennon, Salem, Bontempelli, Crouch, Dumont, Dunstan, K'shnij, Freeman, Sheed and Taylor. That takes us to pick #16.

Seems we may likely get someone from this batch, for now at least.

Just have the feeling that we'll go down the "captain material" type. What do others think?
I hope we go down the "recruit a goddamn footballer!" route to recruiting.

Like the idea of trying to trade a couple of spots up, wouldn't hurt to float something like that past them, preferably would target crouch, but if he goes then freeman I agree...
On TAC Cup future stars, they had Crouch going at pick 18 or so, which is fair bit lower than what BF posters have been predicting, maybe that is a good sign that we can snag him at our pick?
But then again, having good interviews and a good testings at the combine will bump him up the order, just see josh caddy, when on the show they had him going at pick 18 about 2 months out from the draft.

Hope Lennon tanked the interviews at draft camp...
Heard he did very well at the clean hands test in the combine.

Could be that someone reaches and takes gardiner as well harks then there is Richmond who could take the preverbial left fielder... Won't scumingwood get another pick before ours re Thomas compo though?

This is a good call. I've been thinking along these lines for a while.

It is clear that we do lack on-field leadership and I have no doubt MM will be keen for that to be turned around.

Thomas will help on that front but we also need younger players coming through the ranks to show that quality.

Like you, my knowledge of the draftees is severely limited but two names I've been keen on are Luke Dunstan and Trent Dumont. Both are tough midfielders with some flexibility to their game (Dunstan forward and Dumont back) who show real leadership on the field.

Both are considered mid-to-late first round picks and with our first pick likely to drop to 14th overall, we are right in that range.

Yes Collingwood will but that's why we're at pick 13 and not 12 as was the case before Thomas came across.

I mentioned the name a little earlier but wondering whether someone will pick up Dayle Garlett before our pick #13? Collingwood maybe?

Fingers crossed they do, and put swany up as his mentor, it'll be a short afl career n a wasted pick... Not that I wish that upon dayle just prefer he doesn't tear it up for them!

Throw sheed in the hat as well...

Captain material according to a few drafting sites would be Luke Dunstan ( inside mid) then. All these guys sound great on paper but our development department is going to have to make sure that they live up to their potential.

I think one is that little more inclined to take a "risk" when having consecutive selections.

Where would Garlett be if it just came down to talent this year?
I don't know but I think it may be quite high and he's ready to go after a good year in the WAFL playing against men.

Most haven't got him in their top 30 but it wouldn't surprise should someone pull the trigger on him early.

48 goals and 25 behinds at WAFL level plus plenty of quality touches would surely have him in the top 10 if he getting drafted on talent alone?

edit: Expect WC to pull the trigger then since they won't be able to get Yarran.

Have to 3-5 behind only Aish and Boyd you'd think... Honestly if he interviews well I wouldn't be against him high risk extremely high reward... Go home factor a worry though... Regardless whoever we get will be a very good player I feel

Kolodjashnij if Salem or Freeman are gone. Running flanker/wingman who would add outside run to complement Deledio, Cotchin, Martin, Vlastuin, Conca and Ellis. They re-signed Batchelor, but Deledio still played on Duigan in the finals. Would release Deledio. By the sounds of things, KK has a better left foot than Grigg. :rainbow:

Kade Kolodjashnij had the highest vertical and running vertical leap at the combine this year.

Should be fine if we bring his girl friend ( responsible for his improved behavior) over and his cousin Jeff Garlett is here for him too.
