I think Blease has enormous potential. I think he's suffered being an outside player in a team with a severe lack of inside players to win the ball (as well as early injury). He has some genuine weapons in his blistering pace to burn off opponents and can be very dangerous on the burst towards goal. I really reckon he will benefit greatly from improved team structure and balance and will really be our x-factor player.
He does have that - but he has a pea heart. Goes missing far too easily for my liking.

He's a first class butcher - he tries, but essentially he has hit his ceiling. In 1.5 years he is redundant - see Magner. Don't get me wrong, he's far from my worst.
Both Magner and Evans still haven't had a whole heap of game time to get judged by if they're worthy or not, both are good, once both they get more experience into them, they'll evolve into these great players that we've desperately needed and missed over the years. Same with Toumpas, he had a slow start, but geez, he's still so young and his also coming off two reconstructions, he'll be another great servant for us.

Not managing to get games ahead of some of the cloggers on our list isn't crash hot evidence that they'll turn into great players for the club.

I can see where you're coming from and you may be right but I think he was a victim of gross mishandling by Neeld (like most of the team). In a competently run side he would be very damaging with his run and carry into open space and offers a fair bit for the coaching staff to work with.

Evans has plenty to work on defensively IMO, wasn't all that accountable when I watched him play this year. Hard to blame him given probable lack of fitness and competent coaching, but plenty of improvement needed before I get excited about him.

Besides, did he really do all that much apart from that huge game against the Giants?

He's hit his ceiling after not completing one pre-season at the club due to stress fractures and playing 10 or so games?

**** me sideways.

I like Evans, hard at it - solid skills, good natural endurance, can kick a goal, can run and carry.

This. Given his injury history, Evans still has a lot of improvement left in him I think. However, given his injury history, I'm not entirely sure if he'll be able to remain fit enough to ever get enough game time to develop properly.

Evans does still have a lot of improvement, doesn't mean that we didn't see some light at this very dark tunnel.

Also, Evans was getting games, he just got injured so he couldn't play. I didn't know what the deal was with Magner, even when he was elevated, he didn't get a game... It stumps me because I highly rate him, we could've done with him this year, even if it was for a little. I'm hoping Roos believes in him and lets him prove that he is worth it, because he is.

Has anyone heard anything re. Jetta and Taggert's contract status?

Supposedly current contract expires this year. If Jetta and Taggert are still around for 2014 and no further trades are made, then there may not be a spot for a FA signing unless one of Clisby and Magner aren't upgraded.

I've got plenty of times for Evans too - thought he looked really good. At the very least, he will be a good performer at Casey that will keep pushing for a senior spot and keep the AFL guys on their toes.

Evans played 9 games in a row this year then then got injured... from memory he only played 1 or 2 games at Casey before getting his senior spot too.

Will depend on our trades.

I wouldnt mind seeing Taggert getting a proper crack at it, with a better coaching regime and no injuries. Jetta, hmm I just dont know, I keep changing my mind on him, if something better comes along, delist.

It's getting tight now.

5 senior spots available.

If compo goes on Vince and we get Cross then it's 3 spots. Obviously we'll use p9 and p36 then maybe p53 or perhaps Clisby gets upgraded.

Still another week of trades, anything could happen under great man ROOSY as well.

Edit: we also have PSD2 up our sleeve.

Jetta's days are numbered.

I think Evans has good pace, but that's about it. Butchers the ball.

Also, Jetta seems like a Paul Roos project. Hard at it, struggling a bit, needs to find a position, good family name.

Most other coaches would have delisted him, and I have no problem either way as long as he only plays AFL footy if he's improved.

Think Clisby will get another year on the rookie list. He's not going anywhere fast.

Wouldn't be surprised to see a Blease or Strauss leave now for a pick in the 30's or 40's.

Keep Blease, sell Strauss (if we keep any of them). Blease's speed is something we don't have much of. Strauss doesn't have anything we need, apart from his roster spot at the end of 2014.

Cards are falling.

4 senior spots left...

More delistings/trades for draft picks we won't use to come, possibly. We still have pick 9, pick 36 and PSD #2 to use, plus a few potential delisted FA signings (Chapman, Cross, small forwards).
