I just wouldn't trust his body.

Yep, but we do have Steve Saunders who has a pretty amazing record. I also expect we'd manage him fairly carefully in terms of gameload.

It would be nice, but unlikely.

The talk over here was that he hated Port Adelaide as a junior footy fan, things like that change, but still??????

Also the Suns would not give him up easy or cheap.

agreed. He was a former #3 draft pick. Still yet to find his niche though.

Would Melbourne consider trading Pick 2 for Pick 5 and 19?
Don't see why not. They may even be able to get whoever they were keen on at 2 at pick 5, meaning 19 would be like a bonus pick. We would probably be happy to do that deal for pick 3 if we were certain that Boyd would be taken at 1.

Would love him at Melbourne, trying to sell that move to him would be bloody hard though :(
A big amount of cash would probably be enough to convince him, as someone said on the doggies board the guy has a young family and an unknown amount of years left in the game (although probably a media role after that) he will probably take the best offer to set his family up.

Just make it a big enough offer to get him into band 1 territory pls :p

Also geez this thread has definitely improved now that people are actually posting rumours (even if most are probably wrong, still interesting) and not their hypothetical trades.

Jack Watts to Fremantle for Tom Sheridan + 3rd Rounder. Freo have made a big offer, good young player wants to go home to Vic

Lol. Sheridan and a 3rd rounder is overs for Watts. Sheridan is a very talented footballer, maybe not as talented as Watts, but still very talented. If I were in Melbourne's position I'd take that in a heartbeat

North Liam Anthony is all but certain to be at another Club in 2014. Maybe one of the Perth Clubs. Last season he played 19 games, averaged 25 disposals per game, 6 marks and kicked 10 goals. He doesn't seem to be in Brad Scott plans for the future. He could certainly be a very handy recruit for some Clubs looking for an outside midfielder.

Melbourne: Jack Watts + Pick #2

Gold Coast: David Sallow

Is that paying overs for Swallow?

Gold Coast can then use Pick #2 to somehow orchestrate a trade with GWS for Pick #1 in order to get Boyd.

I doubt any club will pick him up.

Hurts you with his kicking, however it has improved over the last 2 years.

For the record he has always been very solid when playin over at SUBI, he loves the space.

I'm sure the club will try send him wherever for steak knives or a late pick upgrade...

Most likely the same will happen with Levi Greenwood who is crying out for senior opportunities.

Way overs, Swallow's played most of the year on a HBF, not midfield anyway.

Why would Melbourne want Tom Boyd?

Hogan, Boyd, Fitzpatrick would be a scary combination. It'd be like having Brown, Cloke and Salmon in one forward line. Throw in Howe (Robbo), a semi-decent crumber and a resting mid and that forward line and Melbourne are set for years

Where does that leave Dawes?

Would Clark be able to play as a full time ruckman again?

Dawes I can see playing for the rest of his contract alongside Clark, giving each of the three tastes at AFL level for a few games at a time (I see Watts leaving). After that I see the pair gone and the three pronged attack in place, with Gawn rucking

Would have thought 2 alone would be overs. He's the 4/5 best mid at the club.

I'd say he's got some stiff opposition with Jaeger and Ablett there, also when you factor in his injuries - perhaps its a development role for him playing as a flanker.

But you're right on showcased ability - Pick #2 alone would be overs.

Should this eventuate, would Melbourne really need Boyd as they already have Dawes, Clark, Hogan and Howe.
They'd more than likely target Aish to add some class into their midfield.
