Even at this stage of the season it looks like a Morningside vs one of the Gold Coast sides in the grand final. Just wondering, where will this be played.? At Yeronga,Cooparoo or at a Gold Coast venue? One would think it would be at Yeronga headquarters. But, if so, will it attract a crowd similar to say Cooparoo or even a gold coast venue.I remember some years ago,a undefeated Palm Beach played the Western Magpies in the division two grand final at Broadbeach and lost. But the crowd was huge for this level, some 3000 plus. The next day, Southport played Morningside in the division one grand final at the Cararra stadium, and there wouldn't of been 1200 people there. Your thoughts on this guys.

I think the Yeronga headquarters is a good facility, and no doubt has a great playing surface, but the ground is a east/west site which really is a pain in the arse for players with the sun, and the location is a little out of the way. Corparoo is east/west also, has a great playing surface, is more central but the facilities are average.
Take it to the Gold Coast, where the best grounds and facilities are at Broadbeach and Southport.??????
As I said, it should be a Brisbane side vs a Gold Coast side, so where does the game be played ?

Must add, Southports food and refreshment facilities are very ordinary.Yeronga, Broady and Corparoo are ok. Parking space is limited at Yeronga and Southport, not to bad at Broady, and excellent at Corparoo because they can open up the gate to oval no 2 and theres a huge amount of area there for parking.Give us your feedback guys.

Coorparoo have hosted the best Grand Finals in my opinion. The atmosphere is electric as they can fit in a large crowd because of the parking as stated above. Plus there's no beating being on the hill in the drinkers section. But for logistics sake it would be smartest to have it at Yeronga. I'd be very surprised if it was away from there.

I'd say there'd be little to no chance of it being on the coast - can't see them having to pack everything up in Brisbane just to take it an hour down the coast.

Ruffles,
I feel it should be at Coorparoo in all honesty.

GF's should always be held in Brisbane if there is a Bris side playing as it allows for those on the north side to get to it still.

SMY,
so which venue should it be held in your opinon?

GF's should always be held in Brisbane if there is a Bris side playing as it allows for those on the north side to get to it still.
Same applies for the participating gold coast supporters SMY. If the game was played down there, it allows the gold coasters to get to it, that would not be able to make it if the game was in Brisbane., just like the north side of Brisbane supporters, etc etc.

The chatter that's going around for hosting the QAFL Grand Final could be held at Burpengary. :(

Enjoying the chat re gf grounds. For what it's worth I believe the league will do what's in there best interest $$ wise.
With springwood and morningside likely to win second semi's I'd suggest yeronga/aflq and the kings would be rubbing there hands together again.

Robina were told last year despite winning second semi and offering Burleigh or broady as options on a weekend when we would have been the only gc team to play on gf weekend that "we wouldn't get enough people there" and was held at yeronga.

Personally think yeronga and kings ground lack atmosphere for gf's.

Best gf's I've been apart of were Pbc/ magpies at broady and Pbc/noosa at maroochy. Both amazing atmospheres with spectators able to watch from any point on ground.

I think the the teams that play in the second semi should have the right to nominate a neutral ground should they win as to where the gf is played - surely needs to be some incentive to get there. Otherwise name a venue at the start of the year

Wouldn't the incentive be winning the grand final?

Yeronga's field is too small in my view, that thing is a postage stamp. It was very silly that Robina had to play the Kings in the GF last year - though not sure it made a 100 point difference!

Zillmere is an ideal location for a final, no matter which division. Nice big ground, plenty of parking, good facilities and AFLQ can lock people out so they can charge entry...

Some will disagree when saying the GF shouldn't be away from Brisbane but I think we can all agree on Burpengary being the worst case scenario for everyone.

Haha qafl - well if we didn't have to travel to Brisbane we wouldn't have been able to be drinking beers on the bus on the way up :drunk:

Would be an interesting situation if both the north and south gf's of lower divs are both played in Brisbane on the same day which is feasible given springwood and mayne's current form and need for neutral ground that ticks league boxes.

Shaping as a cracking Gold Coast prelim - Pbc/broady/lab would draw a massive crowd one would think.

As a northsider in Brizzy, this makes me jealous. There'll be no north Bris teams in the QAFL finals. I'll have to go watch Mayne or Kedron in the QAFA A or bury the hatchet and watch Aspley in the NEAFL.

If the game is in Brisbane then GC people can venture up to Brisbane, the same as sunny coasters can venture down. the difference bn travelling 100km and 200km is significant. If a Bris side is in the GF it should be played in Brisbane every time bc it will attract supporters from north to south. The best set up is Burpengary now. Not sure about your compass re Yeronga but it too is very good. Wilston Grange is a ripper venue for atmosphere and viewing bc of its height but the surface is usually patchy. Coorparoo is good too. Lots of options but Burpengary isn't Brisbane imo.

Little Bird told me that to hold a GF, clubs would have to tender for them!!

Yeah you do. The venues are chosen prior to finals. AFLQ sent out info last week to clubs that attended their meetings stating how much to hold specific finals etc. You won't get one just bc you think your ground is suitable. Firstly you need club people to buy in and volunteer. There is a clause in there though if 2 GC sides were to make it that a GC venue would be the GF venue. If a Bris side is in, then will be played in Bris guaranteed.

The QFA Nth Conference Dermie... and we will allow you to come and watch Maroochy in it as well.. :)

Going to be a cracking game tomorrow at Salk Oval. Big crowd from what I hear, all AFLQ on staff to make sure Palm Beach are held accountable for anything they might come out with.
