Actually there is a science in terms of Australians taste in coffees .....and coffee is aimed at the majority preferences

Starbucks suffered from introducing the American blend into Australia which was a bitter taste (palatable in America) which is not preferred in Australia

Australia prefers a sweeter creamier coffee .....most Eastern States premium Baristas now double shot as standard .....however it's a cafe choice between strength and drinkability ......by drinkability i mean a taste that facilitates the customer purchasing more than one without that satisfied feeling which is obtained quickly from a stronger flavored coffee.

The other differential is serving temperature ......with most preferring to immediately drink rather than have too hot ......myself i like it hot as iam normally in a meeting talking and i don't want it going cold too soon

Pity Adelaide has a paucity of good coffee outlets :(

Wow. Just when I think no load of **** that you post could surprise me, you go one better!

Kudos

Yes Wayne who sprouts us Adelaidians suffer from an inferiority complex comes over for a holiday and after 4 days tells us we lack quality coffee shops.

So has he done a coffee tour? How is he qualified to make such a claim?

Then he alludes he is so important he only drinks coffee in meetings.

2 things are holding me back from posting what I really think of his posting:

1) a card
2) he has me on ignore

How others don't step up like you do and call him out for his bullshit is beyond me

Steak is ok to complain about. Can taste crap. Wine on the other hand is nothing more that a class system wank fest to some people.
Christmas day we had a bottle of Moet.

The cheaper sparkling white we also had was much better IMO.

Hang on, wine is also a taste thing, how can you criticise people who don't like wine that doesn't taste nice?

Because funnily enough the taste tends to correlate with price. I worked around the wine industry and seen people like a wine but as soon as they find that it was cheap they start critiquing it. Thats why its a wank. Yes the coffee industry can be the same. But if a steak isnt cooked right it can simply not taste nice.

No idea what you are talking about with wine.

I enjoy discovering new wineries & wines. I have discovered some gems that I prefer over the big brand names.

Most smaller family wineries are happy to talk to you about their wines at cellar door & are passionate about what they do... & contribute greatly to one of the best industries in this state. Many are doing it tough since the gfc ripped out the export market.

When I travel, I proudly tell people we are in the wine capital of the world, as we are spoilt for choice.

Your comment is so far off the mark. It helps to know about what your talking about before making stupid comments!

Exactly. Nothing wrong with not liking something based o taste. But too often it relates to price.
No it doesn't always!

There are some great value quality wines out there at affordable prices.

I doubt you have spoken to many in the wine industry.

People who judge a wine on price alone are hardly experts.

Sound like hanger on snobs.

And that my friend is why wine can be a class system wank.
No, because these are not the typical people in the industry but wannabe expert consumers.

You really don't know many people in the industry... & coming up with grossly inaccurate generalisation.

Do you tell this to people from France, Italy, Spain and California? Are you wearing you Crows guernsey or Heaps Good T shirt whilst doing so?

Seriously dude? Are you aware just how internationally famous the Barossa Valley is? Or better yet go back to the pap board to waste their brain cells reading your crap.

Seriously dude, do you know how famous the vineyards of old Europe are? If you actually knew a local wine maker you would know that they are well aware of their place in the world. We make great wine in South Australia, but to declare it the wine capital of the world is parochial and wrong.

I have just been through Italy & France... But only wore my crows' hat when our finals were on.

French make better white sparkling.

Italians make the best Chianti. Best ones are 100% sangiovese & I visited a few of their best.

I enjoy Spanish & Chilean spicy reds.

However, imo nothing beats a gutsy red, particularly shiraz & sa does it best.

Did you actually have a decent point or poor attempt at humour....

I agree with you that people in the industry know a lot about wine, and that there is a lot of subtlety and nuance in the manufacture of wines, but 'the industry' do not make up the majority of consumers and a lot of consumers are masturbators, and i say this with a lot of experience in both the retail and hospitality side of the business. Like any luxury there will be rich masturbators, connoisseurs, and aspirational masturbators.

Admitting that the masturbators form a part of the consumption market is not the same as accepting that all grape juice taste the same and price is the only differentiator
