Apparently Arizona and San Diego are Adrian Peterson's preferred destinations if he gets traded. The Vikings play both of these teams in 2015.....

For context on that Eagles/Maxwell deal, it will make him the 4th highest paid Corner Back in the NFL (behind Richard Sherman, Patrick Peterson, and Joe Haden).

you forgot to add 'for now', as that's very unlikely to be the case by the end FA. & as others have posted -

People need to remember that cap is up $20,000,000 in two years. Guys that used to get to 8-9 are going to get 11+.

So all these long term deals that are looking above the odds are being bumped by the coming increase.

as to why the Raiders were ranked last in cash spend.

btw GG, this wasnt a piss take, just interested in why the Raiders havent been spending what they should

With a salary cap of 143 million, it's likely that most teams can afford to spend over $100million on their top dozen players because most rosters are unlikely to have more than a million dollar average for the other 41.

Not a massive fan of pouring tht much money into a lesser player from a successful system aka Maxwell, but he was the best out there so they didn't have a choice.

Agreed. I find it hard to comprehend that teams continuously draft #2s or #3s and think that in their system they can become #1s. It just doesn't work that way.

So the Gore deal is for $5 million a season. $7 million guaranteed for the life of the deal. Like I said?

The trade is McCoy for Alonso, Gore and $3.5 million more cap space.
I must say that I am loling that all of a sudden 4 mill in cap space is good, when 5 mins ago it was "half of McCourty"

I think there's a counter to the 'look at the system and players around him'.

Because of playing with those other guys, and in particular teams avoiding Sherman, he was tested regularly and was still successful.

He was targeted as 'the other guy', but that doesn't take away the fact that the system still made it more difficult inherently to be successful. Despite whoever they decided to pass against, they still had the pressures of Thomas rolling over the middle, a vastly successful Dline controlling the LOS.

It's not about the fact that he was targeted and succeeded and therefore the argument was moot, it's that the pressures of the system likely made his job a lot easier.

Not arguing that this is exclusively the case here, but he's been overpaid so far.

I don't think he's necessarily overpaid- the market dictated it. Quality starting corners are unfortunately rare.

He's probably not elite, but will be a very good starting corner for us, and a big upgrade on what we had.

Being targeted does remove a fair bit of the argument though. He's not a weak link that got hidden. He was the guy that teams schemed to isolate, and they weren't able to succeed in doing it. Just naming other good players on the defense doesn't remove the hard stats that exist regarding his being targeted, and the success rate in doing it.

Maxwell is now a top 5 paid CB.
He's the only guy in the top 10 highest paid CBs who has never been a true #1 starting CB.

When you consider that fact, the Eagles overpaid.

No because it's Gore and an extra $3.5 million. You just had $4 million to begin with because the super generous QB who is a millionaire about 200 times over could only stomach a $4 million pay cut.

The coming increase in the cap and the effect that this will have on starting salaries makes the comparison asinine. That's already been explained to you. Would it help if we used sock puppets?

If the QB is getting pressured consistently with nothing happening in the running game, which greatly diminishes his quality of play from the outset, then decides to target Maxwell rather than Sherman, and doesn't do well BECAUSE of the other factors at play. The stats are Maxwell's, but its not like he was the cause is the argument being made.

As I said, it isn't the case all the time, or necessarily here, but getting decent stats in a great system doesn't necessarily have to do with your skill level.

He's getting paid as if he was an isolation CB when he's never been in that situation. We'll find out if he is or isn't in the coming seasons.

first laugh I've had all day, despite Chip's best efforts;)

I guess since you're probably starting a sock puppet at WR, you've got a lot spare right?

Lol chad. The guy that will call PFF a shit site then use their stats as long as it makes the Eagles look bad.

Luckily don't have to read any news with Chad around because you know he will post anything and everything related to us.

Obviously 4 mill is pretty good, it could almost have got us a 32 year old RB

I scan the news daily looking for stuff that makes the Eagles look bad
