Point to where anyone said Scharenberg was a third round pick....link please?
All I've seen are posters suggesting he has slipped down the ratings this season from what was considered to be a lock for top ten at the start of the year and could even slip through to the 2nd round.......and that there are others with more outstanding attributes i.e. speed, spread, scope for improvement...with Scharenberg what you see, is what you get.
I actually said I thought we'd rate him somewhere early in the 3rd round given where we are at

Now he will probably go earlier than that but in terms of us I'd have him early to mid 3rd

Phantom drafts are not to be taken too seriously but haven't seen anyone of note have him in top 25 yet so it's not that far beyond that to be 3rd round so it's not a crazy prediction at all

No one is saying no 1 you would think a definite first rounder although I know you don't think he is

But to be named in the team of the year in the centre says a bit you would think
Definite 1st rounder ? says who ?! That's a big call , I'm not saying he's definitely going to be taken in 3rd round but that's where I'd rate him for us

He was on the interchange bench in the U18 All Australian Team after the Championships...

Would you like a wager I'll take 1st rounder you take 3rd I'm pretty damn confident he's been the best junior in his age group the last 4 years in SA

Keen to Play for pride ... good on you for putting your money where your mouth is and backing him in

We can discuss post draft

Let's both do some research after trade time and nominate a club and pick where he will go

Fair call, I'm thinking we will miss him, I actually believe the swampies will grab him having being coached by chocco when he was younger and a few of the Port boys I reckon he will be on their radar

Today's game : McGrath>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>anyone else out there

Pity we don't have a 2nd...I wouldn't hesitate to keep GWS honest and bid on Zach Sproule.

Harrison Burt looked decent too for someone not mentioned in the media.
you watched a different game me then .......was good, but thought it the best U18 game i have seen in a while .......lots of excellent performances, no standout though

selection 33, are you talking Luke Ryan? Interested to hear your thoughts

Quick phantom draft at this stage of the year. This is assuming Hibberd, Prestia, JOM, Marchbank, Lyons, Cloke, Tuohy and Hartlett deals get through. I'm expecting us to get 2 2nds (one from GC, one for Henderson after our own which is currently at GWS).

1) Ess - McCluggage
2) GC - Bowes (Bris bid)
3) Bris - McGrath
4) Bris - Brodie
5) Freo - SPS
6) Carl - Ainsworth
7) GWS - Perryman (GC bid) (via Coll pick)
8) GC - English (via Rich pick)
9) Bris - Taranto (via Melb pick)
10) GWS - Setterfield (PA bid) (via Geel pick)
11) PA - Marshall
12) St K - Scrimshaw
13) NM - Berry
14) WCE - Rotham
15) Adel - Venables
16) GC - Drew (via Haw pick)
17) WB - Witherden
19) GWS - Macreadie (Syd bid)
20) Syd - Logue
R2
21) GC - Scheer (PA bid) (via Freo pick + points)
22) PA - Simpkin (via Ess pick)
23) Bris - Florent
22) Adel - Fisher (via GC pick)
23) GWS - Bolton (via Carl pick)
24) GC - Mutch (GWS pass) (via Rich pick)
25) Coll - Clarke

Yeah, Luke Ryan. Would be an ideal replacement for Luke Brown. Great defensively, good kick and decision making, great interceptor, good production. Just what you want from a defender. Would be a very good, ready-made pickup for whoever gets him (hopefully us).

interesting. you don't see Dodee being ready to step up in to that role? back end of this season was quite impressive in the 2's.

I see Doedee replacing Cheney eventually. Reckon if we were to get him, Ryan would play more as a true, rebounding defender, whilst Doedee has the greater athleticism meaning he can push up the ground.

i've not seen much (or any) of Ryan, but looking at his stats, it's easy to see why you're hopeful. our general defenders are in good stocks which won't be a worry going forward, but if we can add a little more class it's not a bad thing.

Bicks - notice that McGrath was wayyyyy better in defence than midfield . His second half was in defence and he had something like 28 possessions there for the half

I like Sakeson's game on Marshall including his offence

I've seen quite a bit of Sproule and wouldn't put him in same league as himmelberg last year ( similar type )

Burt was really good

Taranto's kicking is average , rest of his game is excellent

Scrimshaw could end up the best player on that lot , his quickness of decision making is already AFL standard

Scrimshaw really impressed. Used his left foot to great advantage. Smart decision maker. Reminds me a bit of Birchall.

Hmm, one player in really struggling to make up my mind on is Dylan Clarke. On one hand, he's an absolute beast of a clearance player, tackles very well, runs both ways, and has very good production. On the other hand, when under pressure he loves to bomb the ball anywhere, and his acceleration isn't great.

Feel like he could well be that 'finals'-type, toughened player, but can we afford to have a kid with risky foot skills on our list?

I love him ! Reckon he is in my top 16

Kicking an issue but he's a big time player

Think he may be better suited to another club as him and Matt Crouch maybe a bit too similar

Yeah I kind of thought that but not as physical as Birchall

In the end I thought he'd be a more all round talented and versatile version of Suckling

Risky foot skills?
Shithouse foot skills!!

I took particular notice of his game against the Rebels only a while back, his kicking that day was diabolically bad, went at worse than 50% and it's a common thread with his football....his brother Ryan isn't a great kick either but he is far better than Dylan in that regard, and on what I saw last year Ryan's the better of the two.

This is what I'm thinking, especially if we get Rockliff. Reckon he could definitely be a player in time, top-end big bodied clearance players have a high success rate. Really needs to clean up his footskills though, a clearance is worth nothing if it goes straight to the opposition

He only fired when shifted Forward, he's not a Defender's bootlace IMO....he cries out Wing, Very Outside Mid to me.

I rated Ryan a lot last year, think he will turn out a very good balanced mid for Norf. I actually didn't mind Ryan's footskills, my main concern with him was that he handballed too much, but he's improved that this year.

Ryan > Dylan at this stage due to the footskills, but both have potential to become very good players, reckon Dylan's clearance work is some of the best in the draft

Still don't get why he gets compared to Bont... yeah sure the height, but two completely different skillsets

Yeah I'm the opposite as think Dylan's inside work is as good as any in this draft

Reminds me of a Priddis but better overhead / worse kick
