If English is still available at 25, should we take him?

Terry Wallace had us taking Scrimshaw.......at #5.
Not sure there was any intel behind it.......probably not.![]()

not for me. we need mids or mobile running players. very good draft fro them and we shouldn't waste it. ruckman you can get later

McGrath is Irish, McCluggage could be either Irish or Scottish. General rule of thumb is that Mc is Irish and Mac is Scottish (not always but predominately is the case). When was the last time two Scotsman were taken with picks 1 and 2?
O'Dear, thanks for clarifyingMcGrath is Irish, McCluggage could be either Irish or Scottish. General rule of thumb is that Mc is Irish and Mac is Scottish (not always but predominately is the case).

A few days away so thought I'd transcribe whats on my whiteboard to the BF forum. No real clue of the points system but believe both GCS and GWS may be in deficit for next year with the hope of trading back and securing spots in 2018.
#1 - Essendon
Andrew McGrath (179cm, 75kg halfback) Sandringham Dragons
Averaged most disposals in TAC Cup as a midfielder and most disposals at championships of any defender. Due to his skill set, leadership and ability to play all over the ground I believe he would perfectly complement Essendon's recent draftees in Parish and Francis whilst filling the void by running off half back.
#2 - GWS
Hugh McCluggage (185cm, 75kg midfielder) North Ballarat Rebels
Goal kicking midfielder who could have easily gone pick #1 based on his achievements to date and his talent. Averaged 24 disposals and two goals in 17 games.
#3 - Brisbane
Ben Ainsworth (179cm, 74kg forward) Gippsland Power
They are in for a huge win with this guy. Will start forward making their attack formidable in years to come alongside their recent draftees. He may also play stints in the midfield after recent results where he demonstrated his midfield capabilities, averaging 29 disposals and three goals in final four games.
#4 - GCS
Tim Taranto (186cm, 82kg midfielder) Sandringham Dragons
Inside/outside midfielder who possesses pace, tackling ability, aerial prowess and goal sense.
Averaged most SuperCoach points in TAC Cup and third most in the championships. Averaged more contested marks than any other TAC Cup midfielder.
#5 - GCS (Matched Carlton's bid)
Jack Bowes (187cm, 78kg midfielder) Cairns/Gold Coast academy
Extremely skillful inside/outside midfielder who wins his own ball, uses it efficiently, hits the scoreboard and is the perfect addition to bolster their midfield.
#6 - GWS (Matched Carlton's bid)
Will Setterfield (190cm, 80kg midfielder) Sandringham Dragons/GWS academy
Big bodied midfielder with good disposal who can play defensively or offensively. Possesses elite contested and defensive pressure highlighted by his 16 tackles in a TAC Cup final.
#7 - Carlton
Sam Petrevski-Seton (181cm, 75kg midfielder) Claremont
An elite kick on either foot, terrific pace and excellent evasive qualities. SPS would add a plenty of much needed class to Carlton through the midfield and across half-forward. Won more than 50 per cent of possessions contested in WAFL Colts and ranked in the top 10 for tackles.

That is my concern, we need mids but if someone like English who could be anything... but could be nothing.. falls in our lap should we take the gamble. My instinct thinks that if enough teams have passed over him then there is probably a good reason why.
The only risk there is if we call the wrong registration number out. Too good not to go in the top 15.If English is still available at 25, should we take him?
Not sure how Taranto is Fyfe.Sounds like the Top 5 will get another shakeup in the coming week. How often does that happen?
I wont be surprised if Essendon opt for McGrath over McCluggage, as I see him as the best, most complete player in the draft. What would be the logic behind GWS taking Taranto? Looking for the next Fyfe?
If they're that scared of his AFL position that they ignore his athleticism, intelligence, work rate and skill, they've lost their minds. He'd have cleared something like 8 clubs that would snap him up happily, so it's a moot point. That is my concern, we need mids but if someone like English who could be anything... but could be nothing.. falls in our lap should we take the gamble. My instinct thinks that if enough teams have passed over him then there is probably a good reason why.
If SPS and Taranto are gone by our pick (entirely possible), who do we like next?
1. McGrath
2. Taranto
3. McCluggage
4. SPS
5/6. Bowes/Setterfield match
7. Brodie? Ainsworth? Scrimshaw? Hayward? English?

If you want a Fyfe potential player you'd look at Hayward. But Fyfe is a very unique player you can't really plan for.
Potential, potential, potential. I've stated before I wouldn't take him at 5 as he hasn't got that midfield body of work behind him to warrant a pick like that.Wow zeeCFC that's a big wrapt your giving Hayward if he's remotely close to a Fyfe potential, I'll change my wish from SPS to Haywatd at pick5.
Can you please share your insights and info on Hayward didn't realise he had midfield potential.
Thanks
Thanks for the info BBB
