While we have late picks, why don't we just target the 'top rookie picks'. We do have a great record there.

That's been my conundrum ? ......if you're going to have a late National Draft pick, just take one of the highly fancied Rookies? , i'm sure they do, but despite this we have a better Rookie record of success than 4th / 5th round National Draft picks ?????

I reckon it's something clubs would definitely want to be cautious of, given how severe some foot injuries can be (particularly re-occurences of them), however I wouldn't read a heap into it at this stage.
Don't want to jump at shadows ......just clubs doing their Due Diligence .....15 players though? :thumbsu:

I guess the question is... would you rather have Beech (who I reckon will be the one that's upgraded) on the main list and an 18YO on the rookie list, or the other way round?

ATS with a young list and losing Henderson & Lyons, i'd probably opt for the mature Beech

My question is; How many rookies can you have on your list?
Greenwood is on the alternative sport rookie list isn't he? (That's not the right name of it though) but you know what I mean I hope. If he is that is extra rookies you can have on the list; ie: as Jack Osborn was.

Beech won't replace Atkins, Seedsman, Cameron, or Milera as potential wingmen this year ......and sorry, i forgot Knight as well

Nah if he's to make it, it'll have to be as a forward / mid ......or potentially as a HB
The only way I think Beech will make it with us is if we have injuries in the forward line. Don't get me wrong I rate him but he's got the toughest gig at the moment trying to break into our forward half.

Correct. Clubs are allowed up to 3 CatB rookies. These are additional to the normal list sizes.

It comes from the same list

They rank the players for draft and rookie on same list and tick them off as they go

They don't change the order or bring in new bunch of players for rookie draft - it's all off the same rankings order

Maybe rookies work harder and make it because they are under more immediate pressure

More drafted players make it usually around 35% of those drafted get to 100 games with rookies it would lucky to be 10% but it's just more surprising when they do and we presently have 5 in our best 22

Making my Phantom Draft i posted a couple of weeks ago look ok ? .....got criticized on the Hayward at #9 to Sydney :)

I'm a big Hayward fan and have seen him a lot and even I thought Sydney at #9 was too high. Pick 5 seems incredible. I'll still be surprised if he goes that high, but I genuinely think he could be the best out of the whole lot if he gets developed right.

Is that Marty's Shaz sliding in the draft?

More will be the question if Graham or sharenberg will be in that 35 % that make it at AFl level or in the 65 % that don't
Unlike some I think Scharenberg will be a good AFL footballer, just not 1st Round good.

Agree with this, I have him at about 30-35 in my rankings, very smart at the stoppages. Kicking does need to improve, though. Will be an AFL player.

Hayward was on Nine news and he's a huge Crows fan as is his family.

He also said he models his game on Gunston and Siciliy.

We apparently are keen, he'd want to become a bloody midfielder.
