Barich admitted to a couple of us this morning at training that Sumich is the leak. Danny and myself where both knocked over by the comment.

Just F*****g wow. These guys are idiots. Why would Suma leak info after he told the club he was leaving?Why would Barich let people know who leaked, unless it's pretty much common knowledge. This is amateur hour all round with these guys.

He gets a bad rap from some on here but he is friendly, does at least get to training sessions and from what Ive heard from his TV reports does not make shit up. I personally think he is one of the few genuine reporters who does back in the players.

Trouble is until these journo's are held accountable for what they write nothing will change.

It's so easy to rattle off opinion pieces littered with " we are led to believe " " A source close to player x " " It is well known "

Last year Caro made headlines with " Hird sacked " I think it was a Saturday online piece. Well Hird rocked up to work on Monday like nothing had happened. She wasn't made to even apologise for completely ballsing it up. No accountability gives them carte blanche to say whatever they want, without fear of recrimination.

I'm more gobsmacked though by the malicious crap-spreading by 3 West journos yesterday with their piece Fact or Friction.

I worked for The Sun & News of the World years back, Murdoch tabloids that were world leaders of the art of beatup. This mob just continued that inglorious tradition.

"Speculation mounts" - whose? Journos of course. "Fyfe's personality linked to Ballaz' desire to be traded" (see previous).

Making Mundy "deny" the team had splintered is your classic variant on asking "When did you stop beating your wife?" where any reply is automatically a hollow-sounding denial. Mundy saying that Fyfe being a demanding leader may get people offside is his all too polite reply to a provocative question being put by - the journos.

Par for the course, you may say. But till now I've had a bit of time for Duffield, thought his analysis better & fairer than many. This though is a seriously malicious beatup and I resent any destabilising it could well cause among younger impressionable players, their families and fans. SHAME!!!

Which article of Duffield's are you referring to? I thought it was Barrett not MD?

Mark Duffield is Paul Duffield's uncle isn't he? So you'd think he'd be relatively supportive of Freo or at least fairly neutral. I've thought he has been in most of what I have read of his.

Yet they laid off a bunch of employees in June and their share price has had its worst drop in a while on the back of their 2016 earnings.

Personally I think 'news' about your own paper should be required to be labelled as ads. Pretty much what it is. If you were so successful you wouldn't have to tell us about it yourself!

I don't know. Not a clue. To me Lyon varies between talking of a vocal minority, and wondering whether the journos have made it all up.

And I didn't know about Sumich either really.
It just matched with everyone's observations of him at training, what I was hearing from people who know Sumich, the coincidence of him leaving and the club all of a sudden leaking like a sieve, the bizarre event of Hagdorn actually having a scoop for the first time ever, Journos such as Nathan Schmook's veiled reference to Sumich and Ballantyne, and Sumich's record of dummy spitting when things don't go his way.

You know, you get much better flavour out of basil by picking it to pieces, as opposed to cutting it to shreds... (otherwise it leaves all the good juicy stuff on the cutting board)

All that notwithstanding, I like the really like the sound of this "Shredded Basil a la' Barich"...sounds quite appetising... even if it is made mostly from arseh*le.
