There are 8 listed players in the NEAFL tomorrow against Southport.

What chance do the GCS have and how do you improve as a footballer playing in this sort of environment.

Until the GCS fix this situation up they will always struggle at senior level.

Spot on - bunch of kids carrying the club at this level tomorrow. Hope they give their best. But its not right - we need to develop a more resillent second team. Get rid of top ups , limit Academy players to bests and make listed players play at this level - not feine injury as an excuse not to play.....

I also gather Swallow will probably only play 50% of the game as it is his first game back after a long time out of the game with injuries.

Understable given his situation - but it now leaves tomorrows team with only 7.5 listed players..
Even with our injuty plague - that is poor senior input from a club perspective.
The Suns NEAFL record gives impression that this level means nothing to them. Sucessful clubs Sydney /Giants treat NEAFL football entirely differently....

The Suns NEAFL record is a reflection of injuries to our senior list - more senior players available = more wins

Giants have more depth and Swans have had less injuries

It is the long term injuries that cruel the Neafl team. Can't get the cattle on the park.

12 listed players who I think have missed 5+ weeks at a time due to injury:
Jaeger, Luke Russell, Gaz, Dion, Hallahan, Currie, Trent, Swallow, Fiorini, Rischa, Rory, Saad.

2 rookies with 5+ at a time:
Bull, Darcy.

May suspended for 5 weeks as well.

Others with 3 to 4 weeks of injury are:
Rosa, Sexton, Garlett, Lemmens, TomNich (now), Hall, and Lonergan.

Just too many LTIs to put enough listed+rookies on the field at a time, and plenty of times the listed players are playing 1/2 or 3/4 because of injury.

For a lot of reasons, need a decent run next year with injuries.
The NEAFL team is absolutely one of the reasons. Keep seeing Sydney and GWS players dominate in good NEAFL teams and then come in and perform at senior level.

I don't think anyone is feigning injury... if you're not right then you don't play reserves and risk further injury... I get what you're saying, it's difficult to improve in the ressies when you're getting done by 100 points and you're surrounded by kids but making guys play with niggles is not the answer..
At the end of the day if you have the quantity and severity of injuries we have had over the last two years, the ressies are going to be severely undermanned at times... short of persuading a dozen seasoned specialist Neafl players to play who don't mind missing out when all the listed guys are available. .. I'm not sure what can be done..

Fiorini 13 possessions in the first qtr
Swallow 6

Fiorini a definite supercoach pickup next year. Will play
