Good deflection. Anyway enjoy your season. Your club has you trained well. Don't expect too much or get your hopes too high and then disappointment will not follow I guess is your motto. Farewell.

Honestly, it's pathetic seeing these desperate Port flogs come onto other team boards and try to provoke a response so they can scurry back to their board and report on it.

I think our depth is much better. I think Port is stronger than the Crows in the midfield, but not in ruck, defenders or forwards.

They should do better because they've bet big on the next two or so years. Trading away so many picks could be an issue.

He started reasonably well - Craigy should have stuck with him and not embarrassed him with the DVD in front of the SA public. Could've been a very different story.
Yes that was very wrong

Agree but think thier ruck stocks are better
Lobbe, Ryder, Dixon even Westhoff all proven at AFL level

Where we've got Sauce and JJ that's about it.
ROB is unproven

That's brilliant, no really it's brilliant. You plan to prove that your club has adequate depth for the season ahead by comparing it with one single other club?

Did you expect me to fall for your trap where you frame my response into one of only two possibilities? I'm sure it would have been very fruitful had I stated that our depth was better than yours turning the discussion into another measuring contest of our proverbials, when it has no relevance because we're not the only two teams in the league, or better yet I could have gone with second option and bowed down to the glory of Port. What I gave you was an honest answer because I can't accurately predict how good our depth is given all the uncertainly our club faces at the moment with a new coach, a large hole left by the departure of one of the league's best players, and the introduction of four players who are at least two or three years already into their AFL careers and which I'm not all that familiar with.

Here's a suggestion; instead of posing silly questions why don't you explain how an injury prone forward who is yet to play a full season, another injury prone player who hasn't done anything at all, plus a handful of first year players taken late in a shallow draft are going to solve any depth issues you had last year? At least that question actually addresses the topic of whether you have depth or not.

They should do better because they've been shit and we haven't really been. They have had the benefit of very low picks and their old CEO didn't lose first Rd picks, but then again they picked Moore and Butcher, so maybe they lost picks too.

If both squads have pretty much no injuries, I bet our SANFL team would belt Ports. We've beaten them a couple of times already with a lesser number of AFL players in action. We've also belted the other SANFL teams a lot harder than them when we've had a relatively full squad. This suggests to me we have better depth than port do.

I guess the question for us is will they be SANFL guns that never make the AFL grade? Some will be but we're pretty good at developing players.

I guess the question for Port is what is the factor as to why they don't perform better than they are in SANFL? Is their depth younger than ours? I honestly dont know the answer to that one. If its not age or experience, then that leaves fitness, talent, gameplan and attitude.

In addition to the comments about us beating port in SANFL with last years depth I believe we've strengthened our depth substantially, I dont see them having done as much.

2015 delistings
Reilly
Danger
Pods
Wright
Martin
Kerridge
Siggins
Wilson
Osborne

2015 recruits
Milera
Doedee
Seedsman
Hampton
Gore
Menzel
Hunter
Beech
Greenwood
Keath

B Crouch replaces Danger in the firsts.
Pods is a loss to our depth I'll admit that.
Beech is better than our next best which was Kerridge
Menzel > Martin
Milera > Wright
Hampton> Siggins
Seedsman> Wilson
Hunter> Osborne
Doedee,Greenwood, Keath> Reilly - considering Reilly didn't play a game last season.

Overall our depth has risen substantially.

Birds of a feather and all that [emoji4]

That nightmare is over for now---time to start concentrating on the team that actually is run professionally. Crows season can not start soon enough for me!!!

Kern to be sacked at years end, then the rebuild starts again. Again.

Kochie has put Kern into an unsackable position for the foreseeable future. Even if port drop to an even worse season I see them hanging onto him out of arrogance. They blamed everything but the coach for the poor season last year when it is obvious it was him.

He has taken his club no further than what Sando did with the Crows :thumbsu:

Is quite remarkable how Sando and Kern's careers are somewhat intertwined.

Both played at Geelong in similar positions.
Both were assistants there.
Both had coaching roles at Port.
Both are loved by players as coaches.
Both are great motivational speakers and love a cliche.
Both had their best success as a senior coach with a tactically minded senior assistant by their side. Losing a Prelim to Hawthorn.
Both struggled once that senior assistant left them.

Sando was sacked.

We got a kick away from a grand final, isn't that the pinnacle of success? :drunk:;)

No offence, but that's probably a question you should be asking your own club

The difference is we sacked Sando because that "success" was not good enough.
Kern is a demigod at Port.

I don't take much stock in our SANFL results in terms of winning games. The results I am keen on is a player coming from our SANFL team and slotting straight into his role at AFL level. Our young guys have done this well.

You guys have a real obligation to win SANFL games as you have a separate SANFL membership and charge admission to watch these AFL Reserves games. Always find it amusing I walk straight through the gate at Alberton, whilst Port supporters are lining up to pay to get in.

Trengove late has been a matchwinner also.
I think sauce is the best from both clubs but port has the better ruck stocks overall.
