Billy Smedts to miss 4-5 months with a shoulder injury after a training mishap

The lad didn't play much last year however with Geelong going into 2016 with 2 spots not filled on the list, S Selwood still struggling with an ankle injury and J Selwood set to miss the bulk of another pre-season I think a fit Smedts would be in Geelong's best 22 especially considering that it has been reported that he has really impressed over this pre-season to date

IMO the Cats won't have the depth to carry to many injuries at one time

An AFL franchise was formed, an SANFL club remained in the SANFL.

Both clubs struggled financially due to supporters deserting both clubs once they started losing games.

However the AFL franchise was able to takeover the SANFL club to turn it into an AFL reserves team and legitimise a claim on history.

But to suggest this to a Tealster is akin to telling a devout Christian the world is older than 4000 years old. Let them believe their fable and have a sing song about how hard done by they were.

and don't introduce them to my father... A port man from birth, but he strongly disagreed with the way they went behind the commissions back to get an AFL licence (more used by the AFL but still), so when the Crows were formed, they became his team and he has remained loyal to them since. Once the Magpies were made into the AFL team reserve side, his allegiance to Port Adelaide was utterly gone. His SANFL side is the Crows.

Ive had to pick a new SANFL team. Thanks again Port!I like following the Crows I decided I need a more traditional side in the comp too. I got talked into Centrals as I am a northerner now. Believe me this is a hard thing to do especially after the things I said about every other team during my Port days in the 90s

There was a strong rumour j selwood's injury would need rest for most of the year... But they will probably play him injured instead.

Just found some footage of your father turning in his membership:

Geelong list strategy is high risk and it's not just because they didn't fill their last two spots on their list but there are a few players on their list with a history of injuries Smedlts who is now injured again, Scott Selwood still needs to over come his ankle issues, Zac Smith recently returned from a knee, Hawkins has had his back issues, Bartel, Vardy and Stanley all missed a fair bit of 2015 and then there is J Selwood who will miss the bulk of his 2nd pre-season and as you said will likely play carrying a injury.

IMO the Cats are treading a thin line and I'm still not convinced that overall that their 2016 is that much better than their 2015 list

The Cats have lost Kelly, Stokes, Rivers, Stevie J and McIntosh which is a heap of experience and players such as Simpson, Walker, Jensen and Gore who would have been best 25 players if they had stayed at Geelong

Their depth will be tested

Never really rated Smedts that highly to be honest.

Has had a real bad run with injuries, Broken leg, hip and now the shoulder and was until this week having his best pre-season

I suppose my main point was my view on Geelong's risky list strategy and its impact on their depth and ability to carry injuries

Port boards that way
You divided yourself, dont blame others
We never did find out who is tearing them apart. I think they're singing about the port supporters who abandoned the club in their droves when the club needed them the most. Those supporters, more than anyone else, nearly brought the club to its knees.

The sing along is the biggest whine in Australian sport. Its embarrassing.

maybe they its about keeping Butcher at Port Adelaide. It would explain a lot about how he can even be on the list.

Yeah similar scenario for my family. All from port Adelaide. Family Owned the British hotel for 80years true full blood port magpie people. They hate the power with a passion and so do many of their friends. They hate the way they tried to remove their team from the competition and they hate the way they steal the magpies tradition to sell a few seats. Luckily I listened to dad and followed Norwood.

I have followed Port Adelaide for over 60 years ..
It was the Port Adelaide Football Club Inc, Nickname Magpies, that got the licence for the AFL and they became ....Port Adelaide Football Club Ltd. ..... Nickname Power ... when they entered the AFL
The SANFL still wanted a Port Adelaide side in their competition and the... Port Adelaide Magpies Football Club Inc. ...was formed and were not allowed to train at Alberton. It was the SANFL that broke up Port Adelaide and now it is back to one Club at Alberton.
All these details can be confirmed online with a little research .......

You just said it was the SANFL that requested a magpies team so we are in agreement that PAFC had no intentions of keeping the magpies. So PAFC was going to kill the magpies on its own. Hard to suggest then the SANFL were trying to tear you apart, yet you do?
